Vehicle Detail

For sale: 1966 VW sedan. This item is being relisted due to a non-paying bidder. Original 50hp 1300cc engine. 6V electrics. 74624 miles on odometer. Driven 4430 miles in 19 years. Garaged for 19 years. Birth certificate from VW and maintenance documentation including 1997 repair and service wiring, engine, brakes, lights 1998 repair and service engine, brakes, steering, suspension 2009 replace right door, fuel tanks, running boards, bumpers, gaskets and seals, repair and service engine, brakes, steering, suspension 2012 repair and service engine, brakes, transmission, steering 155x15 radial tires. Bendix Sapphire I radio. Popout rear windows. Exterior repainted by a previous owner. Not a perfect match to the interior, which is still original. Seats not original, but 1966 VW seat frames and springs, with pads and upholstry from Wolfsburg West, are included. Head liner and carpet need replacement. Rust in heater channels and floor pans. Not sure of extent of rust in floor pans, but there is a soft spot just under where my right heel normally sits. I addressed the issue by moving my foot slightly, and was able to drive all over southern PA and western MD with no problem. Not a long term solution, of course. Hasn’t run in three years. Worked fine when being stored for the winter in late 2012, but not the following spring. When I turned the key in the ignition there was no grinding sound, and the battery light was on, but the engine just wouldn't turn over. Don't know what problem was, but there was a problem with similar symptoms a year before, and the mechanic said it was due to the flywheel gear teeth being all chewed up. He addressed the problem by regrinding the teeth with a Dremel tool. Over the last three years the battery has drained. Located in Baltimore, MD. Currently titled and registered in Washington State.
