Vehicle Detail
27 foot Morgan Sailboat This is a classic sailboat. A Charlie Morgan. Originally a 1972 bluewater racing sailboat, she is now more of a live aboard cruiser that is in the water on Lake Hartwell and ready to sail. She has seen lots of work by her previous owner and myself but still has plenty left to work on. I love this boat but her mooring is just too far from my house and I don’t get to her often enough. She needs a Captain that has more time for her. She is a solid boat that deserves more care then I have time to give. The Good: She sits on a prime mooring about 20 ft from the main dock in a sheltered harbor on lake Hartwell in South Carolina. She has a newly tiled galley, new electric panel and wiring, new windows, new memory foam topped cushions in the main cabin, almost new (4 years old) rigging and halyards, 2 two year old marine batteries, brand new 100 watt solar panel mounted above the companionway and a never used porta potty. She sports a new mast boot and has new custom tinted windows. She has a mounted CD/radio player, a CB installed, depth finder, compass and a 9HP outboard engine that runs good. She comes ready to sail with a mainsail, storm jib, jib sail and oversized genoa. Lines are approximately 5 Years old and she is ready to sail.. The sails and equipment are alone worth the asking price. This Morgan was constructed out of marine grade plywood and is superior to younger boats with cheaper core wood. She has 100% American made fiberglass so no pock marks like you will find on other sailboats. I have overnighted on this boat 6 or 7 night last year and keep the bilge pumped dry, dehumidifying crystals active onboard and keep fresh anti insect protection hanging in the main cabin. The Bad: No trailer. Though she is quite a good looking boat she does have her fair share of issues that need attention. The forward hatch latch is broken and needs replacement. Lighting needs to be run from the new main electrical panel.(note: 12V power is available on the panel and fan, CB, Radio, depth finder, deck lights and running lights are all connected already). I have removed the forward port hole with intention of replacing and it is currently taped off. (new porthole cover onboard). The engine mount needs replacing. (new mount onboard) The old blue water head is still installed. I have never touched it but was planning on replacing it with a lake legal model with storage tank. The water system needs to be rebuilt but there are 2 sinks, one in the galley and one in the V berth. The main cabin floor was tile when I purchased the boat and it needs to be regrouted. The mainsail cover just ripped in recent hurricane winds.(sail was undamaged) It’s still functioning, tied on with some rope but it is time for a new cover. There are several pieces of molding missing or broken in different parts of the boat. The interior pictures are all recent and the outside pictures taken last year. This boat is ready for a new Captain to start their Lake Hartwell adventure.
