I am the second owner of this motorcycle and since buying it in June of 1988 have put about 2,000 miles on it.  That is an average of say 72 miles per year.  My driving was definitely just for fun!  One of the expensive concerns about this model is that the stator in the charging system has a high failure rate and true to form this bike's stator went out under warranty at about 9,900 miles. This means that there are 7,622 miles on the new stator or if they last the same amount of miles you would have 2,200 miles until it goes. That would take me another 30.5 years at my rate. The condition of this motorcycle is very close to excellent. Paint has some imperfections but still shows well.  There is a small scratch on the top of the tank and the right side forward charcoal metallic decal stripe has some blemishes. Mechanically the trip odometer reset button does not work easily and the locks on the side covers do not function as designed. The engine oil has just been changed as well as the filters both air and oil.  Engine coolant was done last winter. Front and rear brake reservoirs are both clear and the brakes function freely.  The final gear case oil is topped off. Starting the engine is a one push of the button and you can tell that the computer is stepping through all the conditions. It takes at least a couple of minutes before the coolant temp begins to move and a few minutes later before the needle reaches the operating range.  I do not start driving until then because I wanted the turbo to last. After arriving at my destination I let the turbo cool down in idle for the same reason. The crankcase breather drain has been dumped. This year I put in a new battery of the AGM type which is mounted on its side.  Just do not mount upside down. From the specs. sheet this bike weighs 576 pounds at the curb so it is a bit hard to lift. History wise since 1988 the bike has been stored inside.  The motorcycle has an owners manual and tool kit with an air gage for setting tire and suspension pressures. I found it interesting to find out how many of the CX 500-650 turbo club members own multiple examples of this Honda motorcycle. This bike even though it has an average amount of miles I believe is a good candidate for a total restoration.
