1989 VW Golf GTI 16V TURBO It starts runs and drives like it should. It needs a tune adjustment - it will hesitate / buck / Cut off fuel.I did NOT build this - It was created in Kansas City - he owned it since 2000 as a stock GTI 16v.Previous owner did the turbo upgrade and paint ( paint is OK , not GREAT - lots of RUNS )Middle of April 2016 - just dropped $630 at local shop.Sorting an oil leak ( weld bungs on turbo / oil pan )Brand new radiator - installed. ( April 2016 )Odometer shows 147, 000 milesRuns / drives - but cuts out / needs a better tune / stand alone. I have driven it an hour or so on highway - and around town - the warmer it gets ( after driving it longer ) the more hesitation / bucking it does.I couldn't get the Sony head unit to turn on - not sure why - haven't had time to figure it out. Could be user error as i am Alpine Fan.When driving this car as it is - the boost gauge reads about 6-7 lbs then it stops- boy does it SCOOT though.. my few passengers so far have had smiles on their faces. Under load - it will hesitate - like fuel pump cut off ? Previous owner was going to install a stand alone fuel management system like MegaSquirt but never did.When at the local shop - he noticed the fuel accumulator / fuel filter housing had a leak. This could be cause of the hesitation? Its not a major leak ,doesn't mark its spot in driveway or anything.The driver seat is a passenger seat - the recline feature is on the inside instead of the outside ( the seats are SO COMFY )The passenger front seat does not have a seat belt receiver attached to the seat The Interior is SO CLEAN - Dash / door panels are PERFECT - clean carpet - Newer headliner.DETAILS of the Car from the guy that built it as a turbo 16v.Engine: -1.8 litre 16v PL block decked & worked by VeeVillage machine shop ( kansas city, missouri ) -forged internals w/ oil squirters -fully rebuilt from the block up -16v rods -16v crankshaft -all new gaskets -all new seals -all new bearings -16v cast exhaust manifold (t3 flange) -garrett water cooled turbocharger, Tompkins SS braided oil supply and return lines -internal 38mm wastegate w/ 10 psi-g pilot -blow off valve (vents to atm, but has a recycle connection on intake) - front mount intercooler -Bosch fuel pressure regulator -bbm fuel rail, Tompkins SS braided fuel line -Custom16v piston's 81mm (machined to achieve 8.75:1 CR) -ARP head studs -ARP main studs -centerforce clutch & pressure plate -Resurfaced flywheel -ceramic coated down pipe & turbine housing -16v scirocco intake manifold -16v throttle body -brand new 16v spark plug wires -all custom aluminum intercooler & charge piping -digifant 1 Engine harness Fuel management with Techtonic Tuning Chip -painted 16v valve cover -Techtonics 2.5" exhaust system (turbo back) w/ Hiflo cat & resonator -Techtonics 16v turbo custom ECU chip running on OEM digi 1 -30lb green-top injectors -A/C intact ( it works too ) Transmission: -fully rebuilt o2o 2Y close ratio Wheels & Tires: -14" LeCastelettes (plus full sized spare).
