Vehicle Detail
The engine has been bored 1.0 mm oversize with new pistons and rings. The crank, transmission, and clutch were checked over and found to be in excellent condition. The cases have been polished and everything re-assembled with new gaskets and seals. The carburetors were disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt. All of the fasteners and hardware on the bike were cleaned, bead-blasted, and replated with either zinc or chrome. All aluminum parts were polished. The frame, fork sliders, side covers, center stand, footpegs, taillight bracket, headlight mounts and chain cases were black powder coated. The tank and front fender were professionally painted their correct original colors. This is an early two-stroke, so you do have to mix the gas and oil, but one benefit is that the inside of the tank is in remarkable condition. The following were replaced with correct NOS or reproduction parts: Front and rear sprockets and chain. Chain cases Front 2.75 17 rib tire Kenda Rear 2.75 17 block tire Duro Front 1.60 17 DID rim All control cables Flat bars per domestic Japanese market models Brake shoes Air cleaner element Peg rubbers Fork seals Suzuki “S” tank badges Seat reupholstered Brake and clutch levers Original Suzuki plug-in style gas cap w/retaining strap The original mufflers are in excellent shape with no dents or rust. They have the light scratches and discolorations one would expect after 50 years, but were in such good condition that I did not re-chrome them. All of the chrome parts with any significant pitting were replated. The wheels were disassembled, the spokes were blasted and zinc re-plated, the hubs and backing plates were polished, and the wheels were re-laced. The new period-correct tires were mounted and balanced. A vintage aluminum bar-end mirror was mounted along with the custom aluminum bar-end plugs. Everything on the bike works. It starts immediately with either the electric or kick starter. Runs and shifts better than new. A complete set of original Suzuki service and parts manuals is included. One original Suzuki key fits the ignition and fork lock. Ready for a collection, or a museum, or to go out and ride a great retro bike that almost no one has ever seen. I have a clear Michigan title for the bike and a 1968 Michigan plate. I’ll be glad to answer any questions. I’m getting older and it’s time to clear out my collection. My price is much lower than what I have put into the bike or what it would cost to buy and restore one. You can pick it up in Michigan or make shipping arrangements and pay all the costs. I cannot crate the bike but am willing to help your carrier. Be sure to ask any questions early. And, please, no zero, low, or significant negative feedback bidders unless you contact me first. I’ll have to cancel your bids otherwise. I’ve had good luck selling and shipping to many satisfied international buyers, so I invite your bids as long as you can arrange shipping and importing to your country.
