Vehicle Detail
I bought this GMC truck from the original owner last September in Sonoma County. Actually a cool story, this truck belonged to Ray Davis, a World War II veteran and local legend in Sonoma County. In the glove box I found an AC Delco receipt/ warranty card from 1969. I'm going to DMV next week to see what I can get that documents him as the only owner of this truck and see how many times the odometer has turned over. Most GMC's were leafspring trucks from the factory. I started a leaf to coil conversion on this truck using a brand new Performance Online POL chassis crossmember ($209) for the trailing arms and brand new Performance Online POL trailing arms ($599). Also used brand new Hotchkis 5" drop springs ($209). This truck needs rear shocks. I also MIG welded in a Porterbuilt universal frame crossmember brace ($110) and removed the rear factory crossmember to start the fuel tank relocation from the cab. Factory tank is still in place. The bench seat that is in the truck is from a newer truck and isn't bolted down. Two rust spots on the truck that need to be repaired, inside the cab above the rear view mirror, but the outside of the cab is fine. No holes where moisture would leak through, only on the inside. The passenger rear cab corner needs to be done too, sheetmetal is pitting with some holes and looks pretty weak. No passenger glass either, this and the headlights were broken while it sat for many years. A crease type dent on the passenger front fender, see picture. Big dent on the front of the passenger front part of the bedside. This truck had a commercial bed on it for most of its life. There are matching dents on both sides on the bottom, from the front part of the wheelwell to the front panel. Looks like it was dropped on something when they stored the bed. Tailgate has a few dents, isn't straight across the panel that says "GMC." Engine I'm guessing is a 350, but there isn't a SPID on the glovebox door so I'm not positive and I haven't ran the block numbers. The guy that maintained the truck for Ray said the crank was making a ton of noise when he last had it running. But I haven't tried to start it or get it running. Was planning on replacing the engine. I haven't removed the rear cover on the 12 bolt, not sure of the gear ratio or if it has factory posi. All four tires are original bias plies that hold air. Clean CA title and registration is current. Please check with uship.com for shipping estimates, this is in Northern CA, 94566. Open to taking additional pictures or showing it locally. Please call or text with questions to (925) 451.1872. On Jan-31-16 at 13:36:22 PST, seller added the following information: Whoever installed the commercial bed tried to color match the rear of the cab. I started removing the aftermarket paint on the passenger side of the rear glass with lacquer stripper.
