Vehicle Detail
Solid 1936 ford 5 Window business coupe, 350/350 mustang II front non power steering, paint shows it was probably street rodded 10 plus years ago, needs some TLC. I bought this car from Gas Monkey Garage April 2014, we were promised the filming, and a copy. I returned to Dallas 2 weeks later to complete the filming, it barley made the last episode of 2015- head monkey was in no shape to sell us the car on camera that day so Christie did the filming with us. I did see this car on the show parked in the lot multiple times. The gas monkeys went thru the car to make it run, I bought it without being able to test drive due to filming in process, but "runs and drives". When the truck arrived to deliver it, it did run, once it hit the asphalt here in SoCal it died! Figuring it was out of gas I accepted and sent the driver on his way. It ended up needing more than gas, I added a petronix unit and coil, new set of plugs, electric fuel pump and fuel cell and carb rebuild and it runs! Not sure how healthy the trans is, it did not want to move out of yard the other day so I put another qt. of fluid in it then it moved- plan on some sort of trans work, it may have been sitting too long. Unfortunately I have not done anything with the car in the time I have owned it and do not see it happening in the near future so this car has to go! Overall this is a solid car, it is close to a driver or its solid enough to tear it down and customize yourself. The rear looks like a Chevy diff, the gas tank in the car is a very nice stainless steel unit but, I abandoned it because that was less time than figuring out what was wrong with it. there is a hole in trunk area where battery is installed, could be covered with a patch 6-8" long of 1" angle.
