This car has been a great workhorse for us for the past six years until the turbocharger failed. With a new turbocharger, we believe that it should be good for some years yet. When in working order, it is easily capable of 40+ miles per gallon on the highway, and on one occasion, we recorded more than 50. We have had it since the 119,000 mile mark. We have always used Mobil 1 Turbodiesel synthetic oil in the engine while we have owned it. The interior shows some wear and tear, but is clean and in more than reasonable condition for a vehicle of this age. The interior mechanisms (seats, windows, etc.) are all functional. The original plastic bottom front plate has been replaced with an aftermarket aluminum version. The tires have approximately one-third tread remaining. In addition to the broken turbocharger, the following minor faults are noted and documented in the photographs: 1) A rusted-out area about 8" long at the rim of the right front fender; 2) A wear hole in the outside of the driver's seat; 3) A small crack about 4" long in the lower right of the windshield (does not appear to be progressing rapidly; does not currently obstruct forward vision) 4) A small rust spot at the lower left of the tailgate window; 5) Two missing knobs on the radio (the radio itself works;) 6) A crack in the plastic housing of the left outside mirror; 7) Light hazing of the plastic headlight covers; 8) A chip in the main front grille; 9) A missing grille section in the left front bumper. This car is not legally involved in the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal. The car is not completely immobile; the engine starts up and it idles normally; however, driving the car more than a couple of miles without replacing the turbocharger might cause damage and is not recommended. Expect to use a tow vehicle or trailer for pickup. We can direct you to some options to have the turbocharger repaired in our area if that is your wish.
