I purchased it this past summer from the second owner. The original owner was supposedly the mayor of Howard, PA and was bought new at Grant Torsell Buick in State College, PA. It has spent all its life in central PA, and I think fairly safe to say any salt exposure was minimal, and appears to have been garage kept throughout its existence. This is finished in a beautiful Glacier Blue, and white leather (not vinyl!) seating surfaces, with a relatively low 58,750 original miles. It has many options, including passenger vanity mirror, dual power seats, power door locks & windows, automatic trunk release, AM 8-Track Stereo (including the original 1975 Buick 8-track itself), power antenna, 3-speed wipers, front and rear fiber-optic light indicators, cruise control, speed-minder, trip odometer, rear defrost, external thermometer (mounted on drivers mirror), automatic climate control, and limited slip differential. I also have the original owner’s manuals. Exterior: The paint is very nice and appears to be mostly original, with some scratches and alligatoring here and there. Certainly no shame for the age, and any apparent flaws are not noticeable except upon close inspection. No major rust, other than a little on the fender skirts and some minor surface rust underneath the trunk lid. No rust under the front doors. Chrome is nice and stainless steel trim is very good and still shines well. Some minor pitting on the chrome near the license plate area. Vinyl top is very good with no fading and almost no bubbling underneath. The underbody has only minor surface scale. Some minor dings here and there, and a minor scrape on the drivers side rear quarter, near the fender extension (see pics). A minor (very shallow) crease exists on the front of the right front fender, and right door (below door handle). Also a dent in the chrome rocker panel below the right door. Not noticeable unless you look for these things. No doubt this has always been a garage-kept car. Interior: The white leather seats are very soft, supple and extremely comfortable. No stains, rips, or tears of any kind. Never smoked in. Headliner and sail panels do not sag anywhere. Dash board and door panels are not cracked. No fading of any sort. Carpets are clean and soft. Even the mats are in great shape. Trunk is clean too. Everything works, except the cruise control and electric clock (the cruise control light still illuminates and you can hear a “click” sound when engaged, but the accelerator pedal won’t move…probably a simple fix). Mechanical: A/C blows cold and was converted to R-134. The garage floor is dry under the engine and transmission after sitting for several days at a time. An occasional drip comes out of the rear axle, but does not appear excessive. The oil and filter was recently changed. Tranny fluid still looks good, too. The car steers tight, tracks straight, and stops smooth. All power equipment works great (except for the cruise and the clock). The car drives smooth up until around 70 MPH, but it usually has a shimmy at speeds above 70; however it’s not always present. My mechanic said it may be related to a slight amount of play in the rear U-joint. I don’t normally drive over 70 with these older cars, so I left it alone. The following was done during the last year: -New radiator -New battery -New shocks -New tires -New exhaust and catalytic converter -New gas tank -Rebuilt carburetor -Lube, oil & filter last month -New bumper fillers and fender extensions Overall: This is one of the cleanest 1975 Electra’s I’ve seen. Very well kept. I think the next owner will be very pleased with the condition of the car. Get in and drive it anywhere, in my opinion. I’ve had this beauty for only a few months, which is typical for me. In fact, I bought 5 vehicles this summer, with this Buick and a 1990 Cadillac being the last ones to get rid of. I call it a “revolving collection”. It’s like fishing….when you catch one and throw it back in the water. I only have 2 cars that I plan to keep indefinitely – a 72 Cutlass convertible that my parents bought in 1973 and a 71 Mercury Cyclone GT which is very similar to my first car. The average person may describe it as such-- but for a car collector, there’s never anything 100% perfect unless it was restored. As such, this car was never restored and has almost 59,000 miles and has some flaws as described already. I have sold numerous cars on eBay and in all situations I had positive feedback. As with anything, if you desire to bid on the vehicle, I would encourage you to see it physically and drive it for yourself before you bid. I would not be afraid to drive this car across the country. It runs and drives excellent and will make a very nice classic for you. If you get the winning bid and are not completely satisfied upon your physical inspection, you can walk away from the vehicle, less $100 of your deposit (to pay for the cost of having to relist on eBay). Up for bid is a very well kept 1975 Buick Electra Limited coupe. I purchased it this past summer from the second owner. The original owner was supposedly the mayor of Howard, PA and was bought new at Grant Torsell Buick in State College, PA. It has spent all its life in central PA, and I think fairly safe to say any salt exposure was minimal, and appears to have been garage kept throughout its existence. This is finished in a beautiful Glacier Blue, and white leather (not vinyl!) seating surfaces, with a relatively low 58,750 original miles. It has many options, including passenger vanity mirror, dual power seats, power door locks & windows, automatic trunk release, AM 8-Track Stereo (including the original 1975 Buick 8-track itself), power antenna, 3-speed wipers, front and rear fiber-optic light indicators, cruise control, speed-minder, trip odometer, rear defrost, external thermometer (mounted on drivers mirror), automatic climate control, and limited slip differential. I also have the original owner’s manuals.
Exterior: The paint is very nice and appears to be mostly original, with some scratches and alligatoring here and there. Certainly no shame for the age, and any apparent flaws are not noticeable except upon close inspection. No major rust, other than a little on the fender skirts and some minor surface rust underneath the trunk lid. No rust under the front doors. Chrome is nice and stainless steel trim is very good and still shines well. Some minor pitting on the chrome near the license plate area. Vinyl top is very good with no fading and almost no bubbling underneath. The underbody has only minor surface scale. Some minor dings here and there, and a minor scrape on the drivers side rear quarter, near the fender extension (see pics). A minor (very shallow) crease exists on the front of the right front fender, and right door (below door handle). Also a dent in the chrome rocker panel below the right door. Not noticeable unless you look for these things. No doubt this has always been a garage-kept car.
Interior: The white leather seats are very soft, supple and extremely comfortable. No stains, rips, or tears of any kind. Never smoked in. Headliner and sail panels do not sag anywhere. Dash board and door panels are not cracked. No fading of any sort. Carpets are clean and soft. Even the mats are in great shape. Trunk is clean too. Everything works, except the cruise control and electric clock (the cruise control light still illuminates and you can hear a “click” sound when engaged, but the accelerator pedal won’t move…probably a simple fix).
Mechanical: A/C blows cold and was converted to R-134. The garage floor is dry under the engine and transmission after sitting for several days at a time. An occasional drip comes out of the rear axle, but does not appear excessive. The oil and filter was recently changed. Tranny fluid still looks good, too. The car steers tight, tracks straight, and stops smooth. All power equipment works great (except for the cruise and the clock). The car drives smooth up until around 70 MPH, but it usually has a shimmy at speeds above 70; however it’s not always present. My mechanic said it may be related to a slight amount of play in the rear U-joint. I don’t normally drive over 70 with these older cars, so I left it alone. Overall: This is one of the cleanest 1975 Electra’s I’ve seen. Very well kept. I think the next owner will be very pleased with the condition of the car. Get in and drive it anywhere, in my opinion. I’ve had this beauty for only a few months, which is typical for me. In fact, I bought 5 vehicles this summer, with this Buick and a 1990 Cadillac being the last ones to get rid of. I call it a “revolving collection”. It’s like fishing….when you catch one and throw it back in the water. I only have 2 cars that I plan to keep indefinitely – a 72 Cutlass convertible that my parents bought in 1973 and a 71 Mercury Cyclone GT which is very similar to my first car. Some people might say the car looks almost “perfect” or almost “flawless”. The average person may describe it as such-- but for a car collector, there’s never anything 100% perfect unless it was restored. As such, this car was never restored and has almost 59,000 miles and has some flaws as described already. I have sold numerous cars on eBay and in all situations I had positive feedback.
