Vehicle Detail

This first generation TT with the 3.2 six-cylinder engine is more of a GT than a sports car. It provides a solid, smooth ride and sporty handling with ample torque available at any RPM and an awesome howl at higher rpms due to the OEM, two-stage muffler override. The DSG, dual clutch automatic gearbox – dry clutch engagement and gear drive, not torque converter mush - provides the performance and feel of a manual with shift speeds beyond human capacity. Downshifts get an appropriate throttle blip. Regular, sport and manual modes. The spacious cockpit comfortably fits larger drivers that most two-door roadsters cannot. This car has an extremely rare color combination; Cambridge Green metallic paint over black baseball-stitched leather seats. The green is a British-racing tone with liberal metallic that just sparkles in the sunlight and looks almost black at dusk or night – very striking. What can I say about black baseball-stitched seats? The holy grail of TT seats, very rare and desirable. The seats show use but have no damage. There are a few door dings but nothing serious. There is a small deformation in the leading edge of the driver’s-side rocker panel that looks like it came from some road debris. It is highlighted in the pictures. The car has fairly high miles but you would never know it by looking at it. It had a “clear-bra” from new on the front bumper, headlights and hood, so there is almost no evidence of chips or other road wear. It obviously has been garaged most of its life because the paint is deep, glossy and relatively free of imperfections. The top has been treated with Ragtop protectant during my ownership and has a recent treatment. The electric convertible motor works flawlessly and there are no leaks or wind noises. The OEM wheels show some curbing and age but look great from 10 feet. The Bose sound systems with CD player sounds great and includes an iPhone interface in the glove box. A/C blows cold and all controls and accessories are fully functional. From a drivetrain and suspension perspective, the major wear issues have been addressed during my ownership. I replaced the front control arm bushings and tie rod ends. It has a newer, adjustable rear sway bar that provides much improved handling – this is an almost automatic modification within the enthusiast TT community and provides a lively feel and excellent balance to a car that is prone to understeer from the factory. The shocks and struts appear to have been replaced with OEM parts at some point and function as new. It has had a recent DSG transmission service (the transmission shifts as new in both automatic and manual modes) and a Haldex (AWD) service so it’s good for another 35,000 miles. The engine has new coilpacks, spark plugs, brake fluid and coolant recently as well as regular Mobil 1 oil changes. Fresh Hawk HPS pads in OEM 3.2 brakes – 13.2” front and 10.1” vented rear - provide excellent braking with relatively low dust. Just detailed and car cover included. Clear Florida title in hand.
