It runs and drives very well with smooth acceleration and shifts good from gear to gear. Also its very Quiet. This vehicle has only 143k Original Miles and for a Mercedes Engine it has many more miles to travel. I got this Mercedes from Fields Motorcars in Daytona Beach, FL. It was traded in by the 1st Owner back in July. This vehicle comes equipped with Leather, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Mercedes Command system, Six-disk CD Changer,Sunroof, Power Mirrors, Keyless Entry etc. It has a Brilliant Gold Metallic and the interior comes dressed in a very nice Beige MB Tex Leather Upholstery and in very good condition. This Mercedes has Effortless power, sophisticated technology, elegant styling inside and out. "Engineered like no other car in the world." For decades that was the Mercedes motto. But under the onslaught of new competitors from Japan and a surging BMW, the company in the early 1990s moved away from the cold rationality implied by that slogan and toward a warmer, and perhaps fuzzier, image of itself. Judging by this spanking-new E300, however, we don't think anyone told the engineers about the change. Although the car is 10 years old, it still drives like new. Having clocked 143,000 miles, the engine still has a lot of oomph... drove to the Lake District and the car's engine power could be felt on gradients where other cars struggled... the turbo diesel 3000 cc is a very powerful engine, and when it came out it was the quickest diesel. These cars are easily capable of doing over 500,000 miles without major issues with the engine, provided the body does not rust away. I love mine, as I have maintained it with a specialist. Pride, so they say, comes before a fall. That motto pretty much sums up Mercedes' fall from grace at the turn of the millennium. We'll leave the fine detail to the automotive historians, but nobody - not even Mercedes - disputes the Chrysler alliance went badly wrong. Coincidentally or otherwise, a nosedive in Mercedes quality kicked in shortly after the 1998 merger/takeover, blighting Benzes for years after. Indeed, many Merc diehards have foresworn the brand for ever as a result of their experiences in the early 2000s. This week's Shed, a W211 E300 Turbodiesel, was born in that troubled year of 1998. Fear not, though. By the looks of it, this one came off the line before the accountants replaced 'only the best' on the material procurement sheets with 'Borat grade'. Superseding the oblong-headlamped W124, the four-light W211 was launched in 2003, facelifted in 2007, and succeeded by the more slope-fronted W212 in 2011. This classic three-boxer reeks of respectability and solidity. It is a saloon, full stop. The only hatch you'll find here is a square hole grudgingly cut into the middle of the back seat for ski toting. Even before the Chrysler debacle, Mercedes electrics were showing signs of weakness, so the best W211 Sheds are the ones with the lowest toy count. As you'd expect, it does have automatic climate control, which can fail, as can diesel injectors and glowplugs. A weird one to look out for is the transmission cooler housed inside the radiator, perhaps not the smartest piece of engineering design in M-B's history. But can't you just taste the potential smugness of being behind the wheel of such a beast for under a grand? Digital images can flatter to deceive, but those shutlines look bankvault-tight and there's no sign of wheelarch or wing rust. Shifting through the gears the E320 CDI(DIESEL) gives no jerking forward and back, but instead offers continuous, unbroken smooth acceleration more like a silent turbine jet engine. The E320 CDI(DIESEL)'s ground speed exceeds the speed at which aircraft lift off, and ten E320 CDI(DIESEL) have more power than a locomotive with a lot less weight and noise. While moving the E320 CDI(DIESEL) reminds one that it costs over five times what a normal Sedan does not by excess, but by the absence of all the little noises, inconveniences and compromises of lesser cars. They are strong, durable and get great mpg. Well it is a true fact that the older German cars are easier to maintain and less cost compared to the new ones. Back in the 90's to own one of these fine German cars you either have to be rich, old, or a drug dealer if you were my age back in the day. Everybody knows during that time if you owned a Mercedes or BMW, you had money and in that time of era cars wont even close to a Mercedes and BMW. Even Lexus was no where to being close to design and style. 20 years ago most cars were cheaply made but Mercedes and BMW were always Over Engineered during that time. This E320 CDI(DIESEL) needs nothing for inspection runs and drives great (will go anywhere). Recent repairs: Done by Fields Motorcars of Daytona Beach (Fields BMW) Fuel system was checked and Fuel Filter was changed at 140k Mobile One Synthetic oil used was done at 142k brand new A/C compressor at 142k not done by Fields but by ARC MOTORS brand new shocks and struts at 135k brand new Michelin tires 136k brand new Bosch battery at 140k Good: WILL PASS EMISSIONS AND state inspections tires in good shape 90% No CEL engine lights on the dash Starts the first time Background: I've owned Mercedes DIESEL'S for years.
