Vehicle Detail
1968 Triumph T100R Daytona. Original Survivor! 1968 Triumph T100R Tiger Daytona 500 Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors LOCATED IN PORTLAND, OREGON. Triumph logged back-to-back wins at the Daytona 200 in 1966 and '67. No doubt inspired by these wins, in 1968 a gentleman purchased a new T100R Tiger Daytona. However, the story we were told is that after riding it less than 35 miles he realized the Daytona was just too much for him to handle. He parked it in his garage, where it remained for the next 47 years. Following his passing, the Daytona was removed from the garage and completely mechanically reconditioned by a Triumph specialist. They proclaimed it "like new" and it is now being offered here as a true time capsule. All components are original. Numbers-matching. Original frame, motor, tank, trim, seat, etc. Bike was stored dry and well with only some slight pitting noted to the tank badges and some chrome. Note that chain guard is missing and tires were changed at some time in the past. Please see photos. The 490cc OHV air-cooled parallel Twin V motor runs without fault. Original 4-speed transmission shifts well. Dual 1-1/8" Amal carburetors. These bikes are rated at 41 HP at 7200 RPM with a top speed of 105 mph. 45-60 miles per gallon. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a wonderfully original '68 Daytona. A realistic reserve has been placed on this bike in keeping with its condition and mileage. Please bid accordingly. (Mileage listed is that showing on the odometer. Note that vehicles more than 10 years old in the state of Oregon are sold as "mileage exempt.") WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK! We gladly sell to buyers WORLDWIDE. Winning bidder please contact us within 24 hours of auction close. A deposit of $2000 is due via PayPal at that time. Vehicle deposits are non-refundable, per PayPal and eBay policy. Balance due in certified U.S. funds via bank wire transfer within 7 days of auction close. We do not accept overseas bank drafts or cashier's checks. Vehicle has a clear title and is being sold by the owner, with our assistance. Vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of payment, unless other arrangements have been made. Note that vehicle will be shipping from the Portland, Oregon area (Northwest coast of the U.S. between Seattle and San Francisco) with easy access to interstate highways (I-5: north-south, and I-84 east). We will gladly assist your carrier with loading. Please ask all questions before bidding. Your personal inspection is invited before the close of the auction. Only you know if the vehicle is right for you. All descriptions are based upon information provided by the seller and our own personal inspection of the vehicle. Obviously, with any collector vehicle there are internal areas that cannot be inspected, but the description is based upon the seller's representations and our observation of the vehicle. For that reason, the vehicle in this listing is being sold "as-is" with no warranties of any kind expressed or implied. Mileage listed is that showing on the odometer and unless otherwise noted, cannot be verified due to the age of the vehicle. Mileage of vehicles over 10 years old is considered "exempt" by the State of Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles. By participating in this auction, the bidder agrees to these terms.
