Vehicle Detail

Selling a rare 1969 1/2 VW Convertible Karmann Ghia that was made between design changes. It was the first year of the independent rear suspension (IRS) and the real glass rear window, and these came only in ate 1969s. It was also the last year for the 1960s tail light design, engine and bumpers. Bought from estate a few years ago, Oriole Yellow. Good: original paint/engine/interior/roof/glass. Revamped brake system, new front/rear disc brakes/new steel and rubber lines. New front (adjustable) beam, spindles, steering dampener, replaced battery, tires, shocks, cleaned out and cored gas tank. Have spare rear glass with defroster lines...as well as original that has no defrost lines but is clear glass (possibly earliest version of the 69.5). Garaged in Brooklyn NY, will coordinate with your shipper. Original brown interior. No sag in floors. Engine tuned on a dime..starts immediately even after months idle. Clear title (transferable registration for NYS). Will coordinate with your shipper. Bad (depending?): original paint/engine/interior/roof/glass. Needs new top (frame intact), interior panels in rear seat area, dash. Rust in usual spaces..over headlights, around outer rockers, below taillights, some under battery. Interior needs revamp. Passenger door scraped and I'm replacing the door handle. Missing trim on both sides. Ugly and tired but lovable...has clearly been a used daily driver for major chunk of its life. Nevertheless catches the cheering eye of people wherever we go. Will include sheet metal replacement for the rust above the headlights (see grey covers in photos), as well as the sheet metal for the rocker panels. An AS-IS sale. For purists or collectors looking for a rare year CV in between two design changes of the Karmann Ghia, this is a great little car.On Sep-14-15 at 04:15:37 PDT, seller added the following information: *Note...I can;t verify the odometer...for a 46 year old car, its likely been turned over! On Sep-16-15 at 19:33:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Second Note: I was able to scan the VW Factory Birth Certificate for the car, showing all original details. Its now posted with the pics. I also found about a dozen pages of mechanical records since I got the car, to document the improvements. Lastly...a viewer asked if I could coordinate with a reputable professional installer for a new convertible top, and the answer is yes. Depending on the terms, I can have the top installed in a close match to the original "Texas Brown"...rare color for a top.
