1911 Ford Model T Touring - Spectacular Restoration! LAU COLLECTION. 1911 Ford Model T Touring Body number: 51358 Engine number: 66314 Assembled May 2, 1911 at the Ford Highland Park Plant in Dearborn, Michigan. This car was shipped to the Seattle, Washington Branch where it was sold to a Mr. Miller. He kept the "T" until his death when it was inherited by his daughter, Veva. She later had the car displayed at Westside Ford in Seattle until 1956 when it was sold to collector Otis Clinton of Seattle. In 1964, Clinton sold the car to James Langdon of Aurora, Oregon, who kept it until his death in 1971. Mrs. Langdon sold the T to Fred Lau of Portland in 1974 in original condition. Over the next 20 years, Fred performed a complete frame-off restoration of the car to concours level. He was a perfectionist. At some point prior to Fred's ownership, the engine had been changed. A period-correct engine (built in August, 1911) was located, rebuilt and mated to the car. The restoration was completed in 1994. There is a full archive of receipts, photos and notes related to the car and restoration. The level of restoration done to this car is spectacular. The photos do not do it justice. The color is a rich, deep red with black leather upholstery, accented by gorgeous brass trim and fixtures with bright white tires showing no signs of use. While the restoration was completed 21 years ago, it has every appearance of being completely fresh today. The car has been stored in the Lau's climate-controlled showroom since that time. It is only due to Fred Lau's untimely passing in April of 2015 that this car is now being sold. It would be a highlight of any early "T" collection. For those who desire to drive it, we are told it runs well, although it has not been recently started. If you are looking for a stunning, early Model T with a fully known history and restoration by one of the hobby's premier collectors, this is it.
