Honda XR

1973 Honda XR75 found sitting in a shed for many years. Bike is mostly all complete with some missing parts & some non original parts.I took some time to clean the tank the best that I can, replaced the petcock,cleaned the carb & took the valve cover off to be sure nothing was rusted, changed the oil & fired it up. The bike runs & rides pretty good, Shifts through all the gears fine.From what i can tell about the originality & the problems i see are; Handle bars were bent & an attempt was made to straighten them,wrong grips,wrong throttle,missing the rubber tank hold down in front of the seat,seat needs repair,missing chain guard,missing side covers,shocks were painted, exhaust is either after market or homemade. Typical with something sitting so long the tires need to be replaced, rims & spokes have some rust levers are broken. But there is some good also. the motor doesn't have any of the tabs broken for the foot peg mounts, the flywheel side cover is complete although repaired at one time, the stud that typically breaks by the drive sprocket is in in tact. & all the fins on the cylinder & head are also in tact. The kick starter seems to slip or miss at times when starting, i do have a spare motor bottom end that goes with the bike that parts can be switched. There is a aftermarket replacement front number plate with the original bracket & a seat cover with an extra seat pan that also goes with the bike. This bike is a good solid foundation for a restoration bike.
