Vehicle Detail

From the article in Buyer's Guide from Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car August, 2012 - Terry Shea "Built by Porsche, the 500E ushered in a new era of super sedans for Mercedes-Benz. It's hard to imagine a better combination of talent assembled to build a super sedan than when Mercedes-Benz and Porsche signed a deal to create the V-8-powered 500E in 1990. In many ways, the 500E is a parts-bin special that combined the drivetrain, suspension and brakes of the 500SL roadster with the mid-size E-class chassis, until then never having been offered with any engine of more than six cylinders. Mercedes and Porsche combined to both engineer and build the car. Manufacturing the 500E involved shuttling the cars back and forth between Mercedes and Porsche factories in the greater Stuttgart area. Stampings from Mercedes-Benz and other suppliers were sent to Porsche for assembly, where the basic 300E chassis was strengthened and modified to accept the beefier V-8 driveline. Among the changes were fitment of flared fenders to accommodate a wider track and wider tires. Bodies-in-white were returned to Mercedes-Benz for painting and trim, after which the car was returned to Porsche for driveline installation and final assembly." Here we have a prime example of this storied vehicle. This very rare, only 1,505 imported into the US, 1992 Mercedes Benz 500E is now being offered to you. With its 5.0 litre V-8 producing 322hp and 354lbs/ft of torque this car can give you the best of both worlds. With just over 161,000 miles this vehicle drives and performs like a vehicle with less than half its mileage. The shifting, handling and power are better than would be expected from any E class Mercedes let alone a 20+ year old vehicle. The wheels are chrome and do show some sign of age as does the paint. The interior however is in extremely good condition condsidering the mileage of this vehicle. With an MSRP of $79,200.00 in 1992, this vehicle was considered one of the best of its time and has been said to be one of the top 5 Mercedes vehicles ever produced. This could be your chance to own a piece of History!!! There is no warranty stated or implied on this vehicle and the buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements. Car is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early. If anyone wants additional photos please don't hesitate to ask.
