Vehicle Detail
1968 Mustang Fastback a True 390 "S" code 4spd is one of the most desirable Mustangs out there Great original color "Gulf Steam Aqua" Original 390 motor and 4spd Trans. Front disc brakes. Very nice car. Just finishing up 3 years of on and off work. New New New ! I have the Marti Report and Clean NJ Title in hand. Pictures speak volumes and I've added as many as I can email me for more photo's even a video or two I'm currently trying to figure out how to load video's sixty7gt500 at aol dot comI posted a video on facebook email me for the link This is a very nice 68 restored as true to stock original as one can be new tires wheels, bumpers interior etc etc Tach Dash !! all good ! Pictures were taken while still completing the build so some things like the tach dash and original steering wheel were not installed yet but will be before car is sold. I just added power steering last week so that's probably not evident in these pictures. We have less than 50 miles on her since completion of work 1,000 of dollars in receipts plus body work not to mention our personal labor this car is really really nice runs very strong and drives great. Now for some slightly bad news. After car is warms up it begins to have a light blue smoke on the right side tail pipe. It could be a Valve stem seal, valve or maybe a stuck ring. Engine is original and has been sitting for quite sometime. In an effort to figure a worst case repair I got an estimate ($2,300) for a total rebuild From "Promar" engines in Patterson NJ. I see way too many cars listed with "NEWLY REBUILT" engines and frankly I just don't believe that the work was actually done. I decided sell the car at a market price adjusted for a totally new engine rebuild This way you can either do the rebuild and know it was done or you can try your own repairs maybe get lucky and even simply drive it around the way it is and see what happens. I did a compression check and got a really good number of 150psi I also pulled the plugs they were clean as expected cause she's not misfiring. I'm kinda hoping the smoke simply goes away with some mileage. SHE RUNS GREAT ! Runs Smooth as silk NO misfires NO shaking NO rattling STARTS right up on the first crank. Honestly she runs like a dream car. I am being very picky here. I simply can't sell the car in good faith without talking about the smoking issue. I'm making a big deal about it and probably shouldn't. Again she runs too good to tamper with ! Average price for a 68 Fastback in this condition a True 390 4spd car is $ 40,000 to - $ 55,000 Your typical rust bucket starts around 12k most start at 15k so do the math this is a great deal. Some of the expenses towards the rebuild: Paint and Body Labor $ 7,000.00 Sheet metal floors 1/4's etc 3,000.00 Wheels and tires Brand new CJ Pony $1,250.00 Tach Dash reconditioned 1,200.00 Complete interior Kit 750.00 New Dual Exhaust 750.00 CJ Pony"s front grille and molding kit 470.00 New Bumpers front and rear 300.00 New windshield 250.00 ----------- That's a quick $15,000 just off the top of my head. Plus Hundreds of personal hours on the car etc etc etc Blah Blah Blah HeHe thats how I feel when I read these things ! I have an extensive collection of Mustangs and truly know their value. I don't need to take a loss on this car I am certainly not under any pressure to sell it. This car was bought with the intention to build it and sell it. At a fair price and at a Profit ! It was put together with originality in mind and period correctness. I am very confident in it's value. My feedback is perfect and it's been perfect since my humble beginnings here on ebay nearly 15 years ago. No 50 year old car is ever gonna be picture perfect at this price ($38,500) unless of course you wanna jump up to the $60,000+ range. I can sell you one of those if your looking for something that much better. E-mail me any questions I have tons of photo's before and after. sixty7gt500 at aol dot com I could not figure out how to load marti report as it's PDF file I can convert to Jpeg. So email that upon request. same for a short video of engine she runs and sounds great ! Car is located in Northern New Jersey 1/2 hr from New York City feel free to inspect the car at anytime. No guess work here no reserve priced straight up. Don't bother looking at nice 15,000 dollar listings that never make reserve. They should get rid of reserve pricing so everyone can see the true asking price. It would be so much easier to buy a car. Bidders with negative feedback or less than 10 should contact me before bidding.
