Vehicle Detail
2000 MR2 Spyder in very good condition, excellent mechanical condition. The engine was replaced in 2012 due to an engine failure the mechanics attributed to prior owner's failure to change the oil. I had only owned the vehicle for two months at that time. I have included a copy of the engine replacement receipt in the auction pictures. The after-market warranty I purchased paid for the replacement after some strong intervention by the garage that performed the work, and the garage was able to get a remanufactured motor, not the rebuilt the motor the warranty company wanted to supply. The car hasn't presented even the smallest malfunction since the replacement. It is remarkably reliable (It's a Toyota with a remanufactured engine, so there ya' go.). AC works well. Has power windows, mirrors and locks, glass rear window with defroster. There was no key fob when I bought it, and I haven't bothered to get one. The car is 15 years old, has some paint nicks and dings consistent with normal use and outside storage, but runs great. The top on the drivers side has a small tear that I patched, and it's been holding for a couple seasons now. I good upholstering person could repair it easily. There are no leaks. I have more cars than I can house, so this one (least practical of the group) needs to go. The car was inspected in VA in April, 2015. The shop mentioned the rear brake pads will need to be changed by next year's inspection with normal driving. About 4 months ago I installed a new set of Nankang tires, so no need to worry about rubber for a while. As you can see from the pics, the car has 17in rims. The wheels are old and need to be refinished. It's an MR2 Spyder, so it has very little storage space due to the engine being located in the rear. There is a small amount of space in the front, also known as a "frunk" (I have a small hydraulic jack in there you will keep) and some space behind two door panels behind the seats. It's such a cliche and tired sales tactic, and everyone says something similar, but this really is a very difficult car for me to part with. It is tremendously fun to drive. The description often given for this car is it "drives like a go-kart". It does. The handling is incredible. Underpowered? Yes, but the quickness and handling make up for that (unless you're into muscle cars and the like, and I am). Great little roadster, but I'm out of car parking space. It is as described. No surprises. I usually drive the car about 2-3 times a week. Bid with confidence. There is no reserve. Threw in a couple of videos to see it in motion.
