Vehicle Detail
1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Light Yellow Exterior with White Vinyl Top. Brown Leather Interior. 52,000 original miles. This car was purchased by my father in 2007 and at that time it had just under 51,000 miles on the odometer. He brought the car to Florida and had a lot of maintenance work done to fix some minor issues. Based on the receipts and other records, these repairs included the following new items: new carburetor, new radiator hoses, new power steering hoses, and new fan clutch. He also had the following services performed: coolant flush, exhaust leak repair, rear differential service, timing adjustment, and vacuum system check. There was also a lot of work done on the front suspension, including a front end alignment and the replacement of the idler arm, upper control arm bushings, upper ball joints, and wheel bearings. The final big item that he had repaired was the air conditioning system which he had completely overhauled, replacing almost all interior and under the hood components, including the compressor, drier, condenser, expansion valve, heater water valve, ATC box and servo, and blower motor. I had the car trailered up to Illinois about four years ago and it has been driven only occasionally since then. Last month, I had the transmission serviced to repair a leak. Since the transmission was out to replace all the seals, we replaced the clutch packs as well. The water pump was also replaced and the car has a new battery. Overall, this is a fine example of Lincoln’s early 1970’s personal luxury car. Although it is now 45 years old, it is still in great overall condition. The car runs and drives great (smooth and powerful). The sound from the 460 V8 is deep and throaty and there are no odd smells or smoke from the engine or exhaust. The interior is in excellent condition (no rips, tears, burns) and it appears that all accessories function as they should, with the exception of the clock and the power antenna which are not working. Also, only the driver’s window is working at this time. The exterior is in good overall condition, but there are a few minor dings and scratches. Overall, the paint looks good, but is starting to show its age in some spots. Also, there is some surface rust showing on the bottom of the doors and at the passenger rear quarter. Otherwise, the car appears to be rust-free. Please note that there are no warranties (express or implied) for this vehicle and it is sold as-is. I have done my best to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible, but all the information contained in this listing is based on my opinion, so I encourage any prospective buyer to view the car in person or have a professional review its condition to draw their own conclusions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange a test drive.
