Vehicle Detail
This is a very clean 1989 Mustang GT with a freshly built 306 (less than 8,000 miles since) and less then 15,000 miles on the rebuilt 5 speed transmission. I am only selling because I am in the Army and headed overseas. It was featured in the June 2014 issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords and won the best 80's coupe at the Autorama show in Dallas. When I purchased the car it had a 302 in it and already had some upgrades including the Paxton Supercharger, GT40X Aluminum Heads, BBK Headers and a few other upgrades. It was still what appeared to be the original paint and interior and already had the original style Pony Rims from the 90-93 Model. Not long after I purchased the car I took it to a shop to get a leak fixed on the back part of the intake. The shop that did the work dropped a washer in the motor without realizing it and when they started the engine it damaged a cylinder and a piston. As bad as this was, it became an opportunity for me since they agreed to pay a portion of the price for a new engine and agreed to do the install for free. I asked is I could order some other parts to do some upgrades since the engine would be out and they agreed to charge me 50% the normal labor rate on those items, so I took advantage of the opportunity. This is a clean original appearing 89 Mustang that gives you that look you rarely see anymore with the performance upgrades we all wish we had. The original look with the fun and still has the reliability to be driven often. I run 93 Octane gas and drive the car to work often. The only issue I have ever had is a few times the starter has dragged on the first turn of the ignition key, but on those times I would turn it again and it fired right up, so not sure what the cause was. Below is a list of the upgrades and other specifics. The dyno read 417 HP to the rear wheels and the car sounds awesome, everyone complements me not only on the look but the overall sound when I pull up. Around 105,000 miles on the car overall but less than 8,000 on the engine and many of the bolt-on parts and the tires have less than 10,000 miles on them Newly built 306 with forged rods and piston (Less than 8,000 miles since install) Trick Flow Intake and Cam MSD Ignition system GT40X Aluminum Heads - Heads were milled and resurfaced with new seals etc at time of new engine install Original 5 speed with Hurst Short Throw Shifter and Line Lock Kit - Transmission was rebuilt by previous owner QA1 complete all tubular front K-Member with adjustable shocks and QA1 rear training arms and Drag Specialties shocks on the rear Strut tower brace and Towers Paxton Supercharger - Rebuilt at time of new engine install by certified and authorized folks in Houston, TX (Less than 8,000 miles ago) 24 lb injectors New set of front floor mats will come with the car - I use the older ones for everyday driving New windshield - the old ne cracked in the last winter Monster tachometer A/C - has worked but currently does not blow very cold Smog pump removed BBK Headers and H-pipe and 2.5 inch Flowmasters 3.55 gears Subframe Connectors Original Interior - Not perfect but still very presentable Rear hatch area - Still looks great but is missing the card board piece that goes over the spare tire well All the lights work correctly accept the map light Kenwood CD player with Bluetooth and all the speaker work and sound fine I am sure I have forgotten a few things as well. Whoever wins this car will surely enjoy it. The only things that need to be looked into are the few minor paint issues, the A/C not blowing cold and the occasional starter drag. Other then those issues or concerns I really cannot think of anything else that needs any attention Below is a link to a short You Tube video I just posted, so you can hear the car run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhUzyGC55mk&feature=youtu.be
