Vehicle Detail

Seven-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, dual-overhead-cam inline four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder, four-wheel disc brakes, manual five-speed transmission, rear spoiler, sunroof, recent upgrades/repairs, and all service records going back to 2000. I bought this car in April 2015 for seven 20-minute track sessions for a college philosophy class. It is a super-fun car on the track. Now that the class is over, I really don't need it any longer. I don't like it when equipment just sits around and doesn't get used for what it was made for, so someone who can used the car and enjoy it should have it. That's why my auction is "no reserve." Plus, I don't really want to pay to register and insure a car that I'm not really going to use, and it would just be sitting outside at my condo building getting weathered by the elements. I have all the receipts below (organized by year). The good: First year for the seven-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, and they came standard. First year for the dual-overhead-cam KA24DE inline four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder. This was the first year for this engine in this car, and it has a great reputation for it's durability and simplicity of design. The ones for the 240SX were manufactured in Japan, not Mexico. 2015 steering (right outer tie rod) right-rear and left-rear struts rear brakes (pads, rotors, calipers, fluid) front suspension (lower control arms) front alignment front tires (Toyo Extensa) battery (Interstate) 2014 spark plugs rear tires (Ohtsu FP6000) muffler 2013 power-steering pump & hose 2009-00 (listed from '09 to '00) steering (left outer tie rod) oil change @ 152,661 thermostat thermal-fan-clutch assembly fuel injector clutch slave cylinder catalytic converter spark-plug wires radiator overflow reservoir oil change @ 149,270 mass-air-flow sensor air filter clutch master cylinder windshield oil-pressure sending unit oil chane @146,460 water pump right-front and left-front torsion bars (they're part of the suspension system) power-steering-pump belt oxygen sensor oil change @ 143,836 oil change @ 140,286 distributor cap & rotor speedometer broke @ 138,638 oil change @ 133,695 clutch pedal switch oil change @ 129,347 odometer 116,719 in 2002 (owner didn't drive it the first two years) Pioneer TS-G1645 stereo odometer 116,719 in 2000 The not-so-good: odometer stopped @ 153,867. The owner, who is 70 years old and retired, said he had only driven the car 200-300 miles since 2012 because his wife had retired at that time, and he was driving around her car the past three years because it was more comfortable and she wasn't using it much any longer. The couple were preparing to finally move to Florida for the rest of their retirement now that the housing market had come back a bit when I bought the car, so they didn't need this car any longer. front-bumper cover left fender need to be replaced. Car is still safe to drive--as my recent track sessions will attest (I passed the tech inspection at the track)--but the car was like that when I bought it. paint is faded (as can be seen in the photos) spoiler needs to be re-dipped, replaced, or removed. small amount of rusting on quarter-panels near wheel wells (quarter-panels are what "fenders" are on the front, but they're in the rear). I'm willing to help you set up shipping if that's something you want to do. When I was thinking about purchasing a vehicle for my class on the east coast, the shipping seemed to be around $800 to where I am 25 miles west of Chicago. Just FYI. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I can still contact the previous owner if I can't answer your question. He might know. On May-19-15 at 09:25:46 PDT, seller added the following information: ***Added on May 19: I'm having my mechanic look at the frame rails on Thursday morning, May 21, so I'll post an update about the frame rails then. On May-21-15 at 09:04:01 PDT, seller added the following information: ***after inspection with my mechanic on Thursday morning, May 21, there is a spot on the front-driver's side frame rail that has more than surface rust (see fourteenth photo). My mechanic said the car is completely drivable, but that six-inch area of the frame rail might be a spot where someone might choose to box-and-weld it to repair it. The same spot on the passenger's side just has surface rust (see thirteenth photo). The rest of the frame rails are not rusted. I also included a general shot of the entire undercarriage of the car, a general shot of the left side of the car, and the left-side quarter-panel near the lower-rear wheel well. Oh, and my apologies: I tested out the cruise control this morning, and it isn't working, so I was mistaken about that in one of my question responses. On May-23-15 at 17:33:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to eBay user alejoshue noticing something in my undercarriage photo--I don't really know what to look for under there, and that's why I brought the car to my mechanic for him to look at and talk to me about the frame rails-- I decided to park the right side of the car on a curb and crawl under the car and check for alejoshue to see if there was any rusting in the floor of the car at the left side of the right-rear passenger foot tub (circled in photo 20, and shown up close in photo 21). There is, indeed, about a silver-dollar-sized spot on the left side of the right-rear foot tub. It's on the side, so it's not taking any weight from a passenger, so that's good, but it definitely could be patched up. If anyone would like to retract his or her bid because my mechanic didn't point this out to me and I didn't notice it myself, please feel free to do so. I completely understand. At alejoshue's request, I've also included photos of the right and left strut towers (photos 18 and 19, respectively).
