Vehicle Detail

Here's a nice 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. Purchase at auction. Offering in as found condition. Nice car for the right mechanic/situation. The car has 124712 miles on it. It's a in very good cosmetic condition, having a few minor scuffs. There is about no rust on the body. Pitting on the wheels. The interior is in nice condition, wear on the steering wheel. Needs a good detailing. The car is loaded power locks, windows, mirrors, drivers seat and electric trunk. It has intermittent wipers and cruise control. AM FM Cassette and A/C. Didn't try the cruise or the cassette. But everything works. The A/C blows cold. And there's a moon roof. Works and doesn't leak. Mechanically: The car stars, runs and drives. Transmission shifts fine. I jacked up the front and the front end is tight. Brakes work fine, including the parking brake. There is some rust on the rotors from sitting. Likely can be sanded or wire brushed. Did not have a problem down the road. Struts look and feel good. There's a nice set of Cooper tires with a lot of life in them. Engine temp runs hot and there's a an intermittent tap in the engine. No leaks in the cooling system. It could be as simple as a thermostat or air bound. It get filled thru the overflow and is a slow fill to avoid air pockets. I ran it for a while. It never overheated but ran hot and was percolating air. My first thought on the tap is a loose timing chain rattling that seems to be a area where it's the loudest. I have a few service receipts. One shows head gaskets and remanufactured heads at 92,000 in 2013. It's a beautiful car that deserves to be fixed. I have a few projects a head of it. I'm listing it needing work to pass it along to someone and make few bucks for the find. Because that's what I do. Nice project here for the right person. Pick up Only!
