Vehicle Detail
This cherry red 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo has been a trusty, one-family-owned, daily driver. It has 231,471 miles on it, which is not many for the great old Volvos. These cars were made to last, and they do! Not like the disposable cars made today that are designed to break. Included with it is the receipt and service record for every oil change since it was new. It has leather interior and a 5 speed manual transmission. It has new exhaust; new brake disks, pads, hoses, and brake fluid; the tires are 2 years old and have 90% of their tread left; and it has a new power antenna. All fluids have been changed on schedule (transmission and rear differential fluid have been changed recently). The driver’s seat bottom has been repaired, there is a split in part of the rear driver’s seat that can be seen in the pictures. The a/c hasn't been charged since 2006 and is not cold. The paint has faded unevenly in some places. There are small dents on both front quarter panels, one behind the drivers front wheel and one by the passenger turn signal. This car shines up very nicely with car wax. This Volvo was in service as a daily driver until late January this year, when the clutch began to slip. Once the car gets moving it is drivable but it needs to be fixed to get back to daily use. Otherwise, the maintenance is up to date. It will be due for new spark plugs in 10k miles and a timing belt in 25k. This car has a lot of fun left in it. The turbo is peppy and has some attitude. It was purchased in Princeton, NJ and spent most of it's life in Annapolis, MD, where it is now. It has a thick undercoat, so there is almost no rust. A pair of Thule ski racks are included with the car. This is your chance to get your hands on a collectable Volvo at a great price. Good luck bidding! Feel free to ask any questions! My general response is: I just took someone for a test drive in the car. We got on US Route 50 (about 10 suburban blocks and 2 traffic lights from my house) and drove 15 miles at highway speed then turned around and came back with no problems. I think this car can make it anywhere as you go when there is no traffic and don't have many traffic lights. The clutch mostly slips when you accelerate from a dead stop in first gear. Otherwise it is smooth sailing as long as you are gentle with the gas pedal. The clutch does the most work getting the car rolling after that there is much less stress on it and it won't just stop working.
