This was running great and getting 45 mpg city and 55 mpg highway when the DC-to-DC converter failed. The result of this is that the small 12V battery under the hood isn't being charged. Regenerative braking is also affected as it uses the converter. So the battery and brake light are on. The car runs fine after charging the 12V battery. Honda dealer quoted $2800 for a new DC-to-DC converter, and it's on backorder, 3-4 weeks to get it, so I purchased another vehicle. The Insight has a nice stereo, custom-made footrest, great A/C, good 144V battery pack (replaced under warranty), two fairly new tires, and no major body damage. Problems include: DC-to-DC converter bad Rear windshield washer sprayer bad Driver's side window "down" switch (it sticks on auto and must be flipped up to stop) Floor mats in poor condition Back tires have borderline low tread Headlights are foggy If you have a 2000-2005 model Insight, this is a great source of spare parts.
