Vehicle Detail
Most likely, even if you're a car guy... even if you're a truck guy... even if you're an import car guy... Hell, even if you're a classic toyota truck fan... You had no idea that this model even existed!! For the quick history, just google "Toyota Stout." If you REALLY want to be blown away, do a google IMAGE search! (Plan on being up all night...) Lol... 1966 Toyota Stout. Located in Phoenix, Arizona. Iowa title, signed open in December 2014, ready to go. Not salvage, no liens. The only things on this truck that are not factory original are the paint, the 18R motor, and the 4 speed manual transmission. The paint has to be almost as old as the truck though, and there are only a few areas where it is noticable... And they are not on the exterior of the truck. There is no evidence of poor masking, etc... It was a very good paint job. The body is INCREDIBLE. There is one tiny “ding” on the driver’s side, and two even smaller ones on the passenger side of the bed. There is a hole about 1/8” in diameter where the driver’s side “B” pillar meets the body. Aside from these, as far as I can tell the body is in EXCELLENT condition. Any rust seen in the pictures is very light. The windshield has no cracks. There is one small round chip. There are no cracks radiating from it, and if it hasn’t been filled already, I would recommend having it filled so it doesn’t spread. The rest of the glass is Excellent, and the side windows roll up and down easily. The doors, glove box, hood, and tailgate close firm and tight, and open easily. The tires are okay and hold air, but I would recommend replacing them before the truck hits the open road. There are three original hubcaps, but they are in amazing condition and have ZERO dents, dings, or scratches. These hubcaps alone are worth $50-100 EACH. The seats are complete, but the upholstery needs… upholstery. The jack and associated tools appear to be original and in good condition. The steering wheel and entire dash (including the VERY hard-to-find push-button assembly) is in excellent condition. There is no headliner, but the visor is in good working order. The picture of the inside of the roof may look like rust, but it is just the remnant of whatever headliner used to be there. It flakes off easily. EXTRA PARTS include (but are not limited to) Instrument cluster, metal bezel ring, and plastic surround (EXCELLENT condition), various plastic lenses (good condition), two “Stout 1900” badges (Excellent condition), a pair of tailgate latches (appear to be in good working condition), window felt/weather stripping/seal (not sure what it’s for, but it looks new), a Toyota Stout Chilton’s manual, a couple large parts that look like they belong in the interior, but I can’t identify them (Excellent condition), various factory Toyota mechanical parts (bearings?) new in boxes. Extra intake manifold. Two extra factory wheels (Don’t know why; all six wheels APPEAR to be good…), other extra parts that I can detail and/or photograph upon request from serious buyer. Why I am willing to part with this piece of motoring history: I recently bought this truck because I absolutely love the look. My intention was to remove the cab and bed and swap them onto my Tacoma. The more I look at the truck, and the more I learn about it and what a rare bird it is, the less I like the idea of tearing it apart. It’s not practical for me to restore it, or even to drive it “as-is,” and that’s really what it deserves. My ONLY reason for selling is the hope that someone will give it the home it deserves. I am an honest guy and a business owner, so it wouldn’t be in my best interest to misrepresent this truck. That being said, once you have read this ad, you know everything about the truck that I do. I make no promises and tell no lies. : ) Here are the things that keep it from being drivable: 1) One of the two gas tanks has been removed and is in the bed. I do not know why. The brackets are there to re-mount it. 2) The engine fires right up and runs smooth. There are no odd noises from the top end or the bottom end. That said, I have only run it by tipping some gas into the carb. It idles great though, and with added gas and throttle it revs smoothly and without labor or smoke. I will gladly provide a video of this to serious buyers upon request. 3) The radiator is empty. I was told that it was drained, but I can’t confirm. This is why I have only run it for a few minutes at a time. It wouldn’t take much to find out, but since I originally only wanted it for the cab and bed, the radiator was of little consequence to me. 4) I received no key(s) with the truck. There is no steering lock, so no issue there; the ignition has a jumper wire, and it is easily started using a screwdriver to jump the momentary contact on the starter. Everything is intact though, so you can get a key made or just use a toggle and a push-button. Cheap and effective theft protection. : ) 5) The clutch pedal goes right to the floor. I have not investigated. Ditto for the brake pedal.PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS! I have listed just about everything I can think of (that I know), but I'm willing to take the time to make bidders feel comfortable. I am not desperate to sell by any stretch, and I will be perfectly content if the truck doesnt sell at all. It will just sit and become more valuable. : )
