1984 PORSCHE 944 5-SPEED MANUAL - NO RESERVE!! 4 Cylinder Engine 5-Speed Manual Tranmission Runs & Drives Nice Alloy Wheels Very Good Tires No Reserve Auction! 65+ Pictures -- Please allow time to load! Vehicle Description: This is a 7-Day NO RESERVE auction for a 1984 Porsche 944!! HIGH BIDDER WINS! 4 Cylinder Engine, 5-Speed Manual Transmission, New Car Trade In! Check out the pictures! Thank you for checking out my auction - please take the time to read the full description below and carefully examine the high resolution pictures. I try to describe the positives & negatives of this vehicle accurately in this description. The Porsche 944 is a sporty little coupe that is based off the 924 but was better equipped and more refined. With nearly even weight distribution, these are affordable sports cars that handle cornering very well. This particular Porsche 944 runs & drives quite well! I purchased this vehicle from as a trade-in from a new car dealership in SE Michigan and have driven it about 125 miles since - it runs and drives quite nice! The 4-cylinder engine runs strong with plenty of power and surprisingly good MPG. The manual transmission shifts generally well and the clutch appears to hold the power nicely. This Porsche is equipped with options like power windows, power locks, AM/FM/Cassette, and more. Zero accident history per autocheck! Mechanically, this Porsche appears is in quite good condition. The engine & transmission are running and driving good. It fires right up after it has been sitting with no hesitation, idles and runs smoothly. Worth noting is that the engine temperature gauge while driving (after warming up) will read between the middle and the next notch up but never above the three "normal" hashes (never overheats) - I have driven it on 40 mile freeway trips and around the city and this doesn't change. I am far from an expert on Porsche maintenance but my quick research online tells me that it this is normal and nothing to be worried about, I figured I would mention it anyways. The transmission shifts nice and the clutch holds strong, but sometimes it can require a little extra effort to get it into gear from a stop but otherwise goes smoothly through the gears without issue. The brakes stop the car straight and with more than adequate power. There is a little pulsation in the brakes when coming from a high-speed, but nothing too bad. While driving the steering & suspension components appears to be in good shape - no rattles, no suspension noise - and the steering is tight. Like any 30 year old car, particular buyers may suggest the suspension needs upgrading but I found it to be very decent. There is considerable amount of air noise and air leaking around the seals for the doors while driving at fast speeds. I drove it through a wet snow storm and didn't notice any leaks, nor did I notice any water leaks when it was washed. It does leak a little bit of power steering fluid - nothing excessive but there is a spot on the garage floor after it has been sitting for day or two - I have not tried to trace this leak nor have I noticed any other leaks. The tires are 225/60/15 in the front and wider 235/60/15 in the rear mounted onto a nice set of factory alloy wheels. The tires are a matching set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 and all appear to have good tread life remaining. The vehicle drives nice and straight down the road, no noticeable vibrations -- this Porsche feels very well sorted for a 30 year old vehicle. A space saver spare tire is present along with a mini air compressor. The heat is hot however the blower motor fan only works some of the time. I think it is the switch because when you turn on the A/C it blows immediately. If the fan isn't working at the moment, the heat does seep out of the vents as you drive and I found this to be adequate (if not a little cold) while driving it here in Michigan during the winter. The A/C fan works fine but I haven't been able to verify if the A/C is working because it has been quite cold outside. The Porsche is equipped with Blaupunkt Monterey SQR23 AM/FM/Cassette, which I believe is the factory radio for this model. The radio powers on fine and you can tune it to find stations, but I'm not sure that all the buttons are working properly (I'm not a radio expert) and the speakers sound less than ideal. The power antenna works but sometimes needs a little help for the last 6 inches going down. There are no check engine lights or other warning lights illuminated. The exhaust sounds good. All of the gauges read except the oil pressure gauge is consistently near the top and although the instant mpg gauge works I'm not sure that it is accurate because it would suggest that I'm usually getting horrible MPG when I am not. The engine runs smooth with no lack of power at all - very strong. All of the windows work and the windshield is in good condition. The odometer states a little over 33,000 miles and the title is marked as "actual mileage." However, it is a 5-digit odometer and I cannot verify that it has not rolled over so I will be selling the vehicle as "mileage exempt" - if I had to guess I would say the mileage is more likely to be 133K. As with any 30+ year old unrestored vehicle, there are a few quirks like the fog lights do not work, the emergency brake works to stop the car in an emergency but won't "lock" up for parking, the horn and cruise control don't seem to work, and the passenger door window switch is popped out. The rear hatch can require a little working to get open (the right side sometimes won't pop up) and I had trouble with the key in the door locks one day although they might have been iced up. The sunroof does not appear to be operational and has tape around it on the roof. I have not looked into this, but I haven't noticed any leaks as it sits. Overall, quite a nice running and driving vehicle! Cosmetically -- this vehicle looks in decent shape for a driver. There is no noticeable rust or major body damage. The vehicle has been repainted previously and it is a "20-foot" paint job - it shines nice but upon close inspection there are plenty of imperfections like "fish eyes," small runs in the paint, small areas that are peeling and previous paint jobs coming through. If you're looking to win best paint at the local car show, this isn't going to do the trick - but it is a driver's car and meant to be driven. The windshield is in good condition and so is the rest of the glass. Both fog light lenses are cracked. The interior is in decent condition. The driver's seat has a separated seam at the bottom portion, but the rest of the interior looks quite nice. The carpets are generally clean and no noticeable odors are present. Door panels are all attached normally and snug, the passenger door panel has silver screws like somebody replaced them at one point vs the driver's door has black screws. The headliner is in good condition. The dash is cracked in two spots. It has not been detailed, and a basic detail would really shine it up. Check out the pictures - they speak for themselves! I have tried to capture both the positives and the flaws in those pictures, although some of the paint flaws are difficult to capture in pictures. Overall, if you're looking for a vehicle that shows pretty decent and is a good driver, this Porsche deserves your consideration! I have tried my best to represent this vehicle accurately and to the best of my abilities. Earning and keeping a 100% positive feedback rating is very important to me! I purchase most of my vehicles as trade-ins from new car dealerships as traded. I test drive each vehicle on the expressway and around town for at least 20 miles, often over 100 miles, and use that experience to represent the vehicle to you on eBay. Please remember that you are buying a used vehicle and that a certain amount of wear/use/flaws are to be expected on any used vehicle -- including this one. You are welcome and encouraged to come check out this vehicle for yourself and take it for a test drive before the auction ends. I have included over 50 pictures - please check out them out. Feel free to email/call me (Michael) at 734-717-3653 with specific questions and I will do my best to answer them. Auction Details & Payment Information: The vehicle is for sale locally as well so auction can end at any time. Bid with confidence as I have represented the vehicle well. There will be a $100 documentation fee added on to each vehicle sold. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending via paypal. The remaining balance will need to be paid within 7 days of the end of the auction by Cash or Cashier's Check. If you need financing, please have that arranged BEFORE the auction ends. Please only bid if you are 100% serious about buying this vehicle. This means you have a plan for shipping or picking up the vehicle and have the financial ability to pay for it. Due to high amounts of non-paying bidders recently, you must have a PayPal account associated with your eBay Account to bid on my auctions. Please make sure you have this, especially if you plan on waiting until the last hours to place a bid because it can take a while to set this up. Please do not take away someone else's opportunity to buy this vehicle by placing a bid without the full intention on purchasing it. Thank you! If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to call me at 734-717-3653. We are a licensed used vehicle dealer and must collect sales tax/title/plate fees so please contact me prior to the auction ending if you want to know what fees you will have to pay on top of the purchase price. Michigan residents will pay 6% sales tax, $15 title fee, and whatever your plate ends up being. For out of state buyers, each state is a different tax/title scenario. If this is a concern, please contact me before the auction ends and I will tell you exactly how much (if any) tax will be for your state. For out of state buyers, any taxes that are paid to me you will receive a credit in your home state (you will not be double-taxed). All out of state buyers will be required to purchase a 15-day temporary tag/registration for $10.00 without regard to how you are getting the car to your home state (shipping it or driving it) and you will need to send me a copy of proof of insurance for any vehicle you own. This is the State of Michigan's rule, not mine...but from browsing eBay $10 is probably the cheapest temp-tag of any state and you will be able to drive your car immediately and legally. In Michigan, all cars sold over 10 years old are marked as mileage exempt in accordance with Federal law. Basically, this means that the State stops keeping track of mileage on older cars, however Autocheck still does track the mileage and this vehicle is not known to have any mileage inaccuracies or discrepancies. Any New eBay bidders or those with zero feedback, please send us a message or give me call to confirm your contact information or your bid will be canceled. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping. We will work with your shipper to help them in any way we can.
