1982 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham Diesel. This rare car was acquired from the estate of the original owner in upstate Michigan. It has been loved, garaged, and pampered it's whole life and it shows. Don't let the 'bad reputation' that these diesel cars had, scare you away. By 1982 most of the major design flaws had been corrected by trial and error. But for the public, the damage to its reputation had already been done. This car's diesel power plant has obviously been treated well and properly maintained over the years. And it gets close to 30 mpg. I have performed a fresh lube/oil/filters,using Shell Rotella diesel formula oil, including a new air filter and a new fuel filter/water separator. The transmission fluid has been recently changed and it shifts smoothly. The antifreeze is still crystal clear, and I have driven the car all last summer, and most of this mild winter we have been having here in Utah. It starts right up every time and idles as smooth as silk! The original interior is in relatively good shape. It has also been detailed. The original vinyl top is like new! All of the power windows work including the rare factory Astro-roof. This car also has the optional Am/Fm cassette /CB Radio. I doesn't seem to work though. However the radio and cassette work fine. I have the owners manual, and the CB radio owners manual. All of the A/C system is present with exception of the belt, not sure if it works, but the compressor turns freely. The car is finished in its original factory Slate Gray,and has been recently waxed. It is gorgeous! And there is NO rust on this car.The tires are in really good shape, as well as all 4 spoke wheel covers. This car seems to meet all the criteria to be classified as a super rare collectible, as it is essentially from the original owner with...original interior,original vinyl top and original paint, and most importantly, the original diesel engine. Not to mention the fine condition it is in after all of these years. This car is not for the faint of heart, it requires a careful stewardship to remain in such wonderful mechanical condition. I will however interject my opinion that these DX block generation diesels (1982-1985) have had a much better track record for longevity than the earlier versions .
