Up for bid is a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT. This vehicle was a local trade by a school teacher and his wife. I personally sold them this vehicle on January 20, 2011, with 91,527 miles. They came in to look at their options, to either put some money into it for maintenance or trade it in and get something new for themselves. They decided to trade it in on a pre-owned, low mileage Lexus RX300. A couple of things I can tell you about this vehicle, it had the transmission rebuilt on 05/13/2014 with 130,294 miles on the vehicle. So, there is still warranty left on the transmission job (until 05/12/2015 or 142,294 miles). Also, about 3 months ago, the customer replaced front struts and springs through my service department. Now, since the customer who traded it in wanted a full inspection of what maintenance needs to be done as of right now, this vehicle went through our shop and a repair order was generated and I can tell you what needs to be done as far as keeping up with the maintenance. It needs a front hub on one side, it needs both upper control arms with ball joints, it needs a drive belt idler pulley, and it needs a serpentine belt tensioner and could use new tires. I am not saying that it needs all of this done right away, but at a mechanical shop stand point, it should all be done sooner than later. After driving the vehicle, the vehicle has a vibration at about 30 MPH, but that is because of the upper control arms and ball joints. The left side rear power window is not working. The vehicle could use a nice detail and cleaning. Other than that, if the maintenance gets done, you have yourself a nice cheap vehicle that’s All Wheel Drive.
