Vehicle Detail

1984 PORSCHE 944 WP0AA0948EN454532 Montego Black (metallic) Ever see Sixteen Candles? The first time I saw the movie, I fell in love with the red Porsche 944 in it! I searched and searched for one that I could afford. I finally found one and it wasn't red, but I couldn't have cared less. The elderly gentleman that I bought this car from had driven the car from 1992-2003 and he loved it. I got the car after it had been sitting for a long period of time. Many of the mechanical things I did to it were precautionary because of the amount of time that it had been sitting. I bought it specifically because of the long term ownership, and I wanted to start with an solid, honest, and original car, rather than one that’s been owned and beaten on by a kid, someone who couldn't afford to maintain it, a flipper, a dealer, or a racer. However, despite how much work I did to it, this car is STILL very much a project car. It is by no means perfect, and if you are looking for a perfect one, then PLEASE look elsewhere- this car is NOT for you. All that being said , it IS a clean, solid and original car that could be made into a very presentable driver with minimal more effort VEHICLE CONDITION REPORT: EXTERIOR/BODY: Mostly original “Montego Black” metallic paint. Shines nicely but is faded in places and has been blended/repaired in others - The picture of the hood straight on may look like it has damage, but that is actually the reflection of a jetliner's contrail in the sky. That shows you how well the paint can still shine. The sides are very straight, there is no rust other than a surface spot the size of a 50 cent piece near the bottom on the passenger’s side, and I found no evidence of prior collision damageCarfax says ‘no accidents’ tooSome checking of the paint in the sunroof (see pictures)Many/Several little dings and blemishes in the paint. It is not perfect by any means, so don't expect it to be.Overall, it’s a pretty car that you would be proud to own, but it’s a “five-footer” in that close inspection will reveal many minor blemishes. I photographed all the worst dings and chips, so check out all the pictures. Fundementaly it's a good car- it’s just... sometimes really needy... like an ex that just won't take "no" for an answer after you break up. INTERIOR: All black upholstery is in really great shape!Aftermarket AM/FM/MP3 stereo Crank windows (power windows are notorious for not working properly or at all, so I'm glad these were in there when I got the car! You will be too!!)Everything works except the A/C, which will need a service INTERIOR UPGRADES:I installed 1988 leather seats- Power front and rear elevators for driver’s seat- BOTH work. NO tears or rips in either seat at all!- please see the pictures. These seats are not immaculate, but pretty damn close for their age! (the old seats were all torn apart from wear- I had to have better ones in my car!)A dash cap has been installed before I got to the carI added the JVC AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo to it and replaced the front speakers in the front doors. ENGINE/MECHANICAL Runs great!2.5L 944 engineENGINE REPAIRS AND MECHANICAL UPGRADES ALREADY DONE:New Timing beltNew Balance Shaft beltNew Cam Tower GasketNew Water Pump WITH upgrade kitNew Fan beltNew Fuel PumpNew Fuel FilterNew Fuel Tank filterNew cooling fan temperature sensor switchNew Speedometer cableReplacement fuel injectors (tested and approved by Marren Motorsports in CT)Replacement A/C compressorReplacement alternatorReplacement cooling fansReplacement radiator (pressure tested, and all good)Replacement Heater blower motor/fanIgnition tuneup including: cap rotor, plugs and wiresENGINE/MECHANICAL ISSUES / NEEDED REPAIRS I KNOW OF:Has an oil leak, but it’s not the Exxon Valdeez or a BP oil rig in the gulf, so just watch it and add oil as necessary. Maybe a head gasket? I don't know. I'm just not doing it and that's that.Power steering pump lines (below the pump) leak, and will need to be fixed, but power steering still works just fine. The keys do not fit the door or trunk locks; I got the car this way SO... I did a LOT of work to this car... really, probably WAY more than I should have, but I was in love with the thing... Possibly unnaturally. I have gotten a new job and am moving across the state and cannot take it with me as I won't have a place for it, so my hard work and loss is your gain. Overall, this is a very good car in much better condition than most 30 year-old Porsches. I would not hesitate to drive this car to Kalamazoo (MI) or around the block... your choice. It’s a really good one, owned & loved by an adult shadetree mechanic, and I’ll truly be sad to see it go!! The not-so fine print:The car is being sold in Massachusetts as-is with no warranty being expressed, written or implied. Know that, understand that, be that. Caveat Emptor! Please feel free to ask any questions about the car that you feel is important and I might have missed.
