Vehicle Detail
By far the best looking and performing Cadillac model, and this specific example, there is. There were only 1200 wagons made of the CTS-V(another brilliant GM decision - wagons are great and these sell very quickly - especially in Europe), This is the top color(metallic red on back, upgraded Recarro seats, top option trim, top sound system(the best sound system I've ever owned, and I have owned/own M5s, Audi S6s, e63, etc.) and thew most attention grabbing car I've driven. You will see online that this wagon is compared to the Mercedes e63 wagon. I've owned both, and the CTS-V is a better performer(except perhaps against the new $140K e63 AWD model - which I haven't driven, but for the price...). I had this car professionally lowered approximately 2" by BBI in Huntington Beach, CA(well know top racing specialists) with a $4,500 K&W coil-over adjustable setup(worth every penny), and this was the test-model for HRE wheels in San Diego(best American made wheels bar none - not even close) for the most aggressive, but roadworthy setup possible. Just look at the pictures. These wheels and tires were over $12K! ...and, like the suspension, worth every penny to me, since I believe if you are going to drive a unique car, make it special without going crazy. These wheels/tires are as wide as you can get without any rubbing. It took a LOT of detailed work by HRE to make this setup come out as you see in the pictures. Every time I drive the car, I get asked about the wheels and the car. People LOVE this car. I just don't use it much(as indicated by the low mileage) and need to the extra around the house. 'Happy wife = Happy Life' If you are looking for the best wagon in the world, this is it. The car has well over 600hp and ft-lbs of torque. The Cadillac dealership I bought it from changed the crankshaft pully for an 18% overdrive which boosted the power significantly... and the car already had a ton of power. Many people with the CTS-V's get much more aggressive with the supercharger pulleys(and often change the supercharger units to Whipple and others) but I'll leave that to you. You will find driving this car makes you laugh and smile to yourself all day. No one with a brain will try to race you. I don't race the car(never has seen a track) but even Corvette owners with younger trophy wives are smart enough to stay quiet. I'm a car guy and have kept this car in excellent condition. In full disclosure, I do want to mention this. The day I bought it in Arizona, I drove it home to Southern California, and picked my 14-year old son up from school on the way home. After the 6-hour drive(perhaps I exceeded the speed limit a little, but that's what radar detectors are for), we pulled off the freeway at our exit, and a young mechanic on his way home from a long day at work hit the rear door. Nothing major(no frame issues, broken glass, no airbag deployment, etc.) and most importantly no injuries to my son or I, but I was just a little pissed-off. The rear passenger door skin was replaced due to my demands. I just want to make sure anyone bidding on this car knows this. I am including the original optional 'upgraded' black Cadillac wheels (tires like new ' the rears are new) but trust me, you won't want to put them on the car after seeing how the car looks with these HREs. HRE intends to put pictures of this car with their wheels on their website. This is truly the best looking CTS-V you will ever see(couple, sedan or wagon), and the wagon makes it even more unique. Some of the CTS-Vs had issues with the original rear-end(differentials). Being as picky as I am(an aerospace engineer), I had the complete differential replaced 500 miles ago. This is a beautiful car and I hate to part with it. I guarantee you will absolutely LOVE this car. The retail price for this vehicle with the options is approx. $50K. The HRE wheels and tires add $12K, and installed, the K&W suspension adds $5K. Thus, a reasonable price(the wheels are basically new as is the suspension) is the upper 60s.
