Vehicle Detail
1997 Jeep Cherokee SE; one-owner, bought new in January 1998. This Jeep is 4-wheel drive and has a 5-speed manual transmission, the current mileage is just a bit over 155,000. The paint is original, but the left side was repainted early on after I scratched it in a barbwire fence, a few years later the grill and radiator were replaced when a deer ran out in front of me, and the hood and front end were touched up several years ago after part of our garage wall pushed in due to a windstorm. The inside is in very good to excellent shape other than the headliner pulling away in the back, we've tried to show that in the pictures. It's been regularly serviced with Mobil 1 Synthetic; the oil and filter were last changed at 151,000 miles, we also had the tires rotated and the emergency brake assembly replaced during that service. The air filter was last replaced at 135,000 miles, the Uniroyal tires have a bit less than 10,000 miles on them and the Duralast battery will be 4 years old next month. Both front and rear brakes were replaced at 80,000 miles, the front shocks were replaced at 90,000 miles, the rear brakes were replaced again at 140,000. The spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor button were replaced at 110,000 miles; the front drive belt was replaced at 121,000 miles; at 127,000 miles we changed the front and rear differential fluid, manual transmission fluid, and transfer case fluid. A few years ago I bent the front axle and right front rim when I slid off an icy road and hit a culvert; we bought used replacements, had the front end aligned, and I had the rim I bought put on the back, you'll see it's a shade darker color in the pictures. At 141,000 miles we had to replace 2 leaking freeze plugs and decided to go ahead and have the clutch rebuilt as a preventative measure. The radiator cap, radiator hoses, and water pump were replaced at 143,000 miles; at 153,000 miles the ECU unit was rebuilt and we replaced the crank position sensor and fuel pump. The air-conditioning may need recharging; I can't vouch for it as I've seldom used it. It has a 2" Reese hitch installed. We've tried to save most of the maintenance receipts and have them tucked in the pouch with the owner's manuals. We've bought a newer car and truck in the last year and have decided we don't need to maintain three vehicles. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and let us know if you need pictures of anything in particular. Added note: I forgot to mention, this Jeep has never been off road other than local farms during deer season. Thanks.
