This is a 1965 Mustang Fastback, factory "A" code GT. The engine is a 289 4 barrel carb with an automatic transmission. Factory Kelsey Hayes disk 4 piston front disc brakes. San Jose California built car!!! There were less than 2000 Mustang GT Fastback with pony or deluxe interior produced in 1965. This is a real GT This car also has an 9” rear end with disc brakes, car stops very well. The rear end is non original to this car and was added. This is a very nice addition. Manual steering GT cars will have the letters HCC AX (tight ratio 16:1 Most of the GT cars came with the tight ratio box. One sure way to tell if a car has the tight ratio box is to jack the front up and count the number of steering wheel turns it takes to go from stop to stop.... 3 3/4 turns from lock to lock on this car. A true GT will have this. Fog light wiring through the core support has a slight bevel around the edge of the hole. The hole has most likely been punched at the factory, as opposed to being drilled in someone’s garage. And when the fog light are on so are the trail lights. A true GT would be like this I checked for the added support in the frame rail for the exhaust hangers by opening in the trunk and sticking my finger through the hole on the top of the rail. There is a tubular bar down inside the hole. If you stick your finger under and a little to the other side, you will hit a solid plate. This is a true GT car As you can see the car looks great. This a very solid Mustang fastbacks, the front and rear frame rails on this car are in great shape as are the shock towers. The underneath is very clean. The only repairs I see on the underside is the rear floor pans were replaced almost no undercoating anywhere on this car, nothing hiding. I have many other picture of the underside of this car it truly amazing how solid this car is. Originally a Texas car has spent the last 12 years in Wisconsin as an occasionally driven car, no winter driving and has been stored most of it time in Wisconsin. The outside is very clean very straight. And was fully restored at that time. The cars color and stripes makes it stand out above most. It’s a non original color but very nice for a 12 year old paint job. The engine compartment is clean with hi po chrome original valve covers and very solid and ready for any cruise night. The factory stamped "A" code VIN is clear on the apron. The original door tag is still on the door. The original autolite 4100 carb is in a box in the trunk along with the am radio and a pair of seat belts for the back seat. Not all 65 have rear seat belts. And the original proportioning valve is in the box as well. The radio was replaced with some AM FM aftermarket type with a amp in the trunk, sounds ok This is a very solid car with no rust issues, there are a few thinks that may need attention like the windows have a film tint on them and there are scratches in the back window. Remember the paint is nice but 12 years old. The car is in Green Bay Wisconsin. Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility but I will help in any way possible.
