Vehicle Detail

Excellent condition, but not mint. Some minor paint scratches and scuffing. Scratches/scuffs on the rims. To me, the rims are the only significant flaw in the car. Mechanically sound. I'm not aware of anything that doesn't work, and recently tested the lights/brakes/horn/AC/radio/power windows/locks/seats/sunroof/cruise-control/etc. There is a broken knob on the center storage console that I will glue back on upon request. If you prefer to order a replacement part for that, it is better that I do not glue it. Tires are rated for 60k miles, if I remember correctly, and they are about halfway there. The front headlight covers are a little dingy. I used to polish them about once a year to clear them back up. Car has been driven by my pharmaceutical rep wife, and we are selling because she decided she wanted an SUV. Since owning, we've only had one problem with the car, and I will describe it now. A couple of years ago, while driving under rainy conditions, the driver's side floorboard filled with rain water. Our mechanic discovered the cause to be a drain hole that was clogged with leaves in the windshield wiper well at the base of the front windshield. After clearing it out, the problem went away and has not returned since. Unfortunately, the water under the seat shorted out the electronic control module for the driver's side seat heater. In a stroke of pure genius, the Mercedes engineers decided a good place for it was under the carpet. Anyway, the Mercedes dealership informed me it would be around $3000 to fix that module and also the master Electronic Control Module for the entire car. I paid the $1200 for the master ECM, but told them to leave the one for the seat heater alone. Neither my wife nor I use the seat heaters, so it wasn't worth the additional cost to fix. I disconnected the fuse for the seat heater in the trunk, otherwise the short that was in the control module would drain the battery every night. Since that incident two years ago, there have been no other issues with the car. With proper oil changes like we have done, there's no reason you shouldn't get beyond 200k miles on it. I have a 99 e430 that has 188k miles on it, and it still runs strong. For the price, it is a good way to get a classy sedan. Let me know if you have any questions.
