This is not a showroom bug...but it definitely turns heads and gets a lot of thumbs up. It's my daily driver and therefore has it's share of wear and tear. Mechanically it is in great shape. This bug has a salvaged title. I bought it this way, then took it to Walter at United Auto in N. Hollywood. He's the best VW mechanic in the city. He rebuilt the tranny, put some new parts in the front suspension, replaced the motor mounts, adjusted the clutch and brakes and went over the entire car. He just put in a new fuel line and pump a few months ago. 12volt...all lights and signals work. The seats have been re-covered and the carpet is in good shape. The interior backseat needs some work and it could use a new headliner (about $60 at Jbugs). Windows roll up and down great, but when they are down they rattle a bit. Needs some rubber on the inside. It has no spare or tools. The window squirt bottle is under the hood, but I don't know if it works. It has good tires and cool empi rims, but two of the center caps are missing. They go about $10 each (or, you could take the remaining two off and roll like that). It has a detachable face stereo in it, but the face was gone when I bought it. I've been told you can check the serial numbers and find a new faceplate online, but my commute is so short I never bothered. Odometer is at 36, 580...but, as with most old cars, I have no idea the actual mileage. Engine runs great, no leaks, fires up like a champ everyday. Aftermarket carb and exhaust give it a little extra power. Custom shifter. This car isn't perfect, but it's reliable, looks great, and is a little something different. It has tons of character, definitely not your standard commuter econo-box. It's great on gas, is fun to drive and very cheap to maintain. ** READ the Shipping/Payment info.
