This ad is for a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass "V" code convertible. A Cutlass "V" code is a special model that Oldsmobile made only in 1972 . These "V" code cars came with a special drive train combination that included a 455 cid. 4 barrel motor with a 4 speed transmission and a posi-traction rear end. This was a way to get the 455 motor without the car being a 442 and having to pay more for insurance. The "V" code cars are very rare with only 56 convertibles being made. Unfortunately the original drive train is gone from this car. This fact does open-up this car to be built into a resto-mod., clone/tribute of a Hurst/Olds, 442 W-30 or a pure stock/F.A.S.T. drag race car or what ever YOU like. The car is originally from California so it is not a Michigan rust bucket. The doors,quarters, floors, trunk floor, deck lid, windshield frame, hood etc. are all solid. Restoration work has been started on the car. Some of the work done includes; A. Underside of the body, cowl and frame stripped down to bare metal and is now in satin black Imron type paint. B. The front and rear suspension gone trough and is in black paint. C. Front and rear brakes gone through. D. The front floors have been changed to be for an automatic transmission (the clutch petal asm. is still in place if want to go back to a stick) E. The rough exterior body work has been done and the body is in primer and ready for more blocking. The doors, hood and trunk fit and close well. Most of the hard to get convertible specific parts are included with the car. Some of these parts are; A. The rear seat. B. Side panels that cover the power top mech. C. Trim that goes around the rear of the top to the deck/quarter panel areas. D. The trim that goes around the windshield and the "A" pillars. E. Some others that are in boxes in the car/trunk. F. Power top asm.. The top goes up and down but the Lh. cyl. leaks at 1 fitting. The car also comes with some of the correct motor parts to be a "V" code 455 cid. motor. Some of these parts are; A. 2 cyl. heads. B. Intake manifold. C. 455 short block asm. (block, crank, pistons, rods, cam etc. [ cyl. bores look good]) The car also comes with a front bench seat frame asm. as the data plate said the car came this way from the factory. There are many more parts that come with the car. These include; A. 1 black dash pad. B. 2 dash plastic frames. C. Some gauges. D. Some headlight, marker and tail light items. E. Most deck lid and hood trim. F. Some bumper brackets. G. Rear quarter glass and 1 door glass. H. Window regulators. I other boxes of various body, motor and chassis parts. In closing this is a great start on an Oldsmobile hot rod. I was going to build a W-30 convertible clone/tribute for Pure Stock drag racing and cruising around etc..
