Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 Normal 0 Up for sale is my 1985 Citation X-11 that I've owned since April of 2008. It was sold to me as having only 56,400 original miles. Since then the car has always been garaged when not being driven and I've only put 7,800 miles on it with the ODO currently reading 64,223. I also have a clean MA state title that indicates mileage is actual with no discrepancies. I'm selling this car due to financial changes that have prevented me from registering/insuring it for the last two years. As such I have not driven it anywhere since 2012 with the exception of a quick trip around the block to keep the brakes clean and to stretch its legs so I'm doing my best to remember all it's pros and cons which I've categorized below.Exterior Car looks great. It was repainted by previous owner and it still looks sharp to this day. They did a good job in my opinion as they removed all molding prior to repainting, painted the door jambs, kept over-spray to a minimum, etc. However it’s not without some flaws. Most notable exterior flaws (see photos) are the bumper fillers are failing as they do on these cars. They have cracks in them and the paint on the front right filler is bubbling. Also the left door pillar cover has a minor crack in it and there are two dings just under the left rear window where a small step ladder fell on it. Also I think the car may have been in a hail storm. While not terrible, and most people don't even notice, you will find several dimples in the roof if you give the car a good looking over. Lastly, there are two patches in the jamb of the hatch (see photos) covering a stress crack on each side. This is a common issue with the Citation and I did these patches to prevent the cracks from leaking water or getting worse and they are only visible if the hatch is open. Interior Car interior is in pretty decent shape over all. Seats are in excellent condition with only one minor tear on the side of drivers seat (see photo). All panels are in excellent condition and are not faded or cracked. The dash is in good condition. It's still shinny with no cracks. However, it does suffer from the "85 bump" (see photo) over the radio. And as always with these cars the headliner is sagging. Engine Engine runs great, sounds great, starts right up, no smoke and has no abnormal noises. With that said I need to disclose that the oil pressure gauge has always read lower than what I believe is normal for this engine. When the engine is cold the needle just makes it to the middle of the gauge and as it warms up it read even lower. I have no way of knowing if it’s a faulty gauge or sending unit or if it’s an internal engine problem. I've never worried much about it because there is no noise from the motor to suggest it isn't getting enough lubrication but you need to be aware of this and comfortable with it before bidding. I've posted two videos on YouTube (user name danl7797) to show you how the gauge behaves both on a cold and warm engine. Ambient temperature at the time of videos was 37 degrees Fahrenheit. Lastly the engine has typical oil wetness on the lower half of the motor. Not sure of the source as it doesn’t leak enough to need oil added between changes but just want to make sure you are aware. Transmission The transmission shifts properly through all three gears and does not slip. At some point it was replaced as there is a sticker on the case indicating it is a GM rebuild. The only issue is the TCC solenoid which is currently unplugged as it needs to be replaced since it doesn't always unlock the torque converter. This is a common issue on these older Th125's and isn't too difficult or expensive to fix. I just haven't had the ambition to do it myself. If you watch the my youtube videos you can see me drive the car around the block hear the how the transmission shifts. Other Tires have good tread but are pretty old and slowly loose pressure. For in town driving I wouldn't worry but I'd say if you want to do long highway drives I'd replace them. The exhaust system is in excellent condition with no leaks and all components have many years left. The catalytic converter was replaced at some point and the muffler sounds like a turbo which produces that classic 2.8 rumble. Brakes were inspected back when I bought the car and at that time there was plenty of life left in the pad/shoes so I don't think much has changed since then. It might be wise to replace the battery seeing it's over 5 years old and been on a maintenance charger for the last two with only occasional starts. A/C is a retro 134a system that works pretty well and I have not had to add any refrigerant to it. As you can see I've made a every effort to disclose everything known about this car. I would strongly encourage you to inspect this vehicle in person or through a third party agent prior to bidding if possible, and to ask all questions before placing a bid. Bidders with no positive feedback must contact me prior to bidding and convince me that you are a serious buyer or your bid will be canceled. $250.00 deposit required withing 24 hours after auction ends via PayPal.
