Up for auction is this very restorable Willys M38. I've been collecting military jeeps for years and seldom do they show up in this condition. The body tub, while not perfect, is really nice. The floors are sweet and the hat-channels and tool box area are sound. The original green paint is still on the underside. This just doesn't happen very often. Getting them in this condition is the key and will save you lots of time. From what I understand, this jeep came off a military base in the midwest and was surplused out in the late 1960's to a family for use on private land. It still has the original military tires and was never licensed. All five military rims come with it. Along the way the family converted it to a 12v system, which for most people is more desirable versus the 24v waterproof type. The engine does run and I drove the jeep off the auto-carrier and 2 miles down the street when I got it. Keep in mind though: This old warhorse is in need of restoration and is not a ready-to-drive unit. The brake system needs to be addressed for one. Not pictured but included is a newly re-cored radiator (all painted and very nice), four correct military gauges (the speedometer looks to be original so it can stay), and a new reproduction gas tank. The original serial number data plate was missing. I will include a N.O.S. (New Old Stock) plate with the purchase. Would prefer local pick-up, Santa Rosa, CA 95407.
