Up for bids and sold to the highest bidder is this rare 1978 Volvo 262C Bertone. Original 2.7 litre  6 cyl. with automatic transmission. Clear Indiana title. Only about 1600 were produced in 1978 and not many still exist. One would be hard pressed to find a more rust free project. I bought this car from the original owners family. It was ordered in Texas and spent most of its life out west.The car was always maintained and well taken care of. Currently not running. Has been off of the road for 3 years. Will start but not stay running and has a fuel problem which appears to be the fuel distributor. The engine sounds good. No cam tapping or unusual noises. No leaks. Slight exhaust leak on manifold. The engine could easily be made to run again with a little knowledge of the 2.7 fuel injection system or would be a good turbo 240 740 940 Volvo swap or V8-ized. The body is remarkably free of rust. The floors including trunk look excellent. The rocker panels look nice. The lower rear quarters look good as most rusted away. Again. Texas car. The only significant rust is on the lower portions of the windshield which has surface rust and bubbling paint. Will need a new windshield gasket. Has never been wrecked.  I believe it is the original paint which is somewhat faded with some small scratches and only light surface rust.The black portion of paint on top of doors and around windows have some sun fade.  No body damage. Rear valance looks very nice with all of the original trim and No rust. Car is 99.9% complete and only missing the right rear 1/4 panel trim piece. The black interior is fully intact. The front seat have rips tears and top of rear seat has seam split. The door panels look nice. The carpet and headliner are nice. Original Volvo floor mats. 1 crack in dash. Both dome lights still work. All of the gauges work, The fan blows excellent on all speeds with no grinding. Wipers, lights, turn signals all appear to function as intended. Both power windows function. AC belt disconnected for unknown reason. The car includes the original manuals, tool kit, jack/spare, windshield trim, drivers sail panel trim and crown emblem. The car rolls and moves freely. It will not stay running long enough to drive or drive onto trailer.Will need towed or trailered.  The brakes work. The tires are like new and hold are but are age cracked.
