Vehicle Detail
Up for sale a 1990 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce convertible. I purchased the car in June with the thought of a restoration. I brought the car back from SC where it had been sitting in a barn for a while. SC car so little to no rust. Body is good condition overall and is solid and straight with the exception of a few minor dents and scratches (see photos of some of those). Paint could be buffed out but I was going to have it re-sprayed, The blue/teal color is pretty rare for Spiders and I believe it was only offered a few years. Love the color combination. Interior is average to poor and should be redone. Seats are sold but have rips. Carpeting is old and should be replaced or cleaned. Dash has a few cracks but typical of Alfa's in that era. The top was becoming unstitched and I had removed it in anticipation of replacing it with a black one (still have the old one). The mechanics of the top work fine (manual). Engine seems strong and starts and runs well. I have not even tuned it up. Goes through all the gears fine. A few things I have done are a new clutch master cylinder, newer air intake hose, new battery, new fuel filter, and updated exhaust from the catalytic back. Car was upgraded with a beautiful wood steering wheel and shift nob, and also has a Pioneer stereo with six CD changer. What the does the car need? Well, in addition to the stuff I mentioned, here are some things I know for sure. The list is not all inclusive for things I don't know about, of course: 1. Small leak from the water pump (probably a gasket from sitting. Pump sounds fine but may need to be replaced) 2. Brake master cylinder is leaking into the housing. I have a new master cylinder in the box ($175) but not installed yet. 3, Power windows. I believe they need new relay but, in any case, they do not go up and down right now. 4. Power side mirrors are off the car. Have one but not the other. Both need to be replaced. 5. Speedometer and tachometer are not working. Not sure if they are just disconnected but have not tried to fix them yet. Former owner showed 61,345 miles on the title and seems about right from documents I have seen. I have only put on 100 miles or so since I have had it. 6. Many other little things depending on what you want to do with the car. Why am I selling? I love the car but in the process of redoing it, I had an opportunity to buy a 1986 from an acquaintance, who had owned that car since new and has taken very good car of it, so it needs very little. The new car is the same color combination and I could not pass it up. So now I have two! The car I am selling will be a great car for someone with a little TLC, especially at the price that I will likely let it go for! There is a reserve but it is fairly low and just trying to cover some of my costs in the car. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call me at 847-778-2187. Good luck!
