Vehicle Detail
This girl starts and runs great. If you're looking for a daily traffic slogger or a concourse queen, look elsewhere. As she sits, this car is suitable for weekend romps and errands; maybe with the bonus of amusing and/or annoying your neighbors. The best thing about this car is that she runs strong and is (now) quite reliable. The carbs and the electronic ignition have a yielded a car which, after sitting for months, will start with 2 seconds of cranking. 97K original milesCarburetor conversation w/ Euro intake manifold and carb camsElectronic ignition upgradeElectric fan upgradePirelli P400 tires with less than 4000 milesNearly no rustNew brake master cylinderNew clutch, slave cylinder & master cylinderLowered to Euro specBilstien shocksNew transmission sealsNew center exhaustNew belts, hoses, and water pumpHella halogen headlight upgradeNew batteryNew brake calipers, hoses, and padsNew u-joints, driveshaft bearing and GIUBO (flex joint) History: This Spider has had only two owners and has lived in the southeastern U.S. all its life. Bought new by an Eastern Airlines pilot, it spent its early life in Miami before relocating to the Atlanta area. It had been resting in a garage with a worn-out clutch for about 5 years when I bought it in 2001 with 92K miles. During her 13 years with me, I've added only 5000 miles. Two lengthy "sleeping" spells of 3+ years kept the mileage down. For the last 3 years, I've kept it in operational condition with occasional naps of 3-4 months. Items included and not pictured: center caps for wheels, CarDisk repair manual (CD ROM), car cover, original center console parts, original owner's receipts, complete documentation of wiring modifications (all easily reversible.) Other notes: though not shown in the photos, the top is in very good condition but only partially installed -- it will keep the rain off your head but needs to be finished by a pro. She needs minor body work, paint and seat covers. The passenger-side door is not the original, it came from a dark blue 83 Spider which is the reason for the primer. The original door had a large dent in it and was rusting due to exposed metal.
