Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Corvette in May of 2012. The previous owner owned it 15 years and did a frame off restoration. It had a period 327ci, 300hp, non-matching number engine with the standard Muncie 4 speed transmission, 3.70 rear. I enjoyed the beauty of the car but was not happy with the engine performance, specifically, at cruising speeds of 55 to 65mph, the engine was turning at 4,000 plus rpms. After doing some research, I decided to replace this engine with a brand new, 383ci GM crate engine with roller cams. With my research I learned that most standard engines are "flat tappet" designed, stroker engines. If you Google "roller cams vs flat tappet" you will see that the roller cam engine is a much better engine. So I paid more for this engine which produces 420 hp and 430 ft.lbs torque. This engine has 20 months left on the manufacturers warranty. I also had installed a Tremec 5 speed transmission with overdrive, a new heavy duty clutch, front wiring harness, etc. This really changed the performance when cruising on the highway by over 2000 rpms, thus also helping out in the mpg department. At 55mph the engine now turns at only 1950 rpms. Tremec is a manufacturer of performance transmissions which come standard in Ford, GM and other performance sports cars. Shifting is effortless, short, no clunking or forced shifts; butter smooth. The torque of this set up compared to the standard 327/300 engine is no comparison. This car will leave most other sports cars in the rear view mirror. The chrome is excellent on the bumpers(remember this is a 1965, not 2014) and the interior is fine with no tears, rips or excessive wear on the seats. The carpets look new; the dash has no cracks or other visible problems. The convertible top looks fine. The steering wheel is Teak wood. The AM/FM radio works, the antennae works by a separate switch to raise or hide. Clock and wipers work. The speedo and tach work but the odometer does not. I inquired about repairing and found through a Google search that there are many odometer rebuilders but am selling the car as is. This car has about 500 miles on the new engine and tranny. I have already done two oil changes to break in the motor correctly. This engine has so much torque that you just can tap the engine at idle and your burning rubber. The tires are in excellent condition and do not need replacement. I am selling this beauty because I am relocating out of State and need the you know what. This is my dream car but my relocation was unexpected due to personal circumstances. This is a beautiful driver's car and you won't be afraid to drive it. Feel free to ask any questions..On Oct-09-14 at 11:38:14 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE: The is a non-matching numbers car with many new parts but many original parts. On Oct-09-14 at 11:54:59 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE #2: The speedometer is not working and have a new speedometer cable coming free from Tremec dealer. The installation of the new cable is not difficult and I am selling the car as is with speedo not working. The tachometer does work and the odometer, as indicated above, does not work.On Oct-11-14 at 14:33:06 PDT, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE #3: This car is equipped with headers and Magnaflow mufflers. The sound of this car is incredible with a deep, throaty tone not too loud but makes it presence known; a sleeper.
