Vehicle Detail

I'm the third owner of this authentic original 1966 HONDA CA160 which is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. It was purchased in 1966 at Penn Honda in Reading, Pennsylvania and registered for the 1966-67 year only - one of the photos shows the inspection sticker which is still on the rear fender. It was later traded to another Honda dealer near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. That dealer never transferred the title, but instead drained the gas from the tank and carbs and put the bike on display at the dealership. I've included a photo showing this CA160 at the dealership. I took this photo ten years ago (in 2004) when I visited to see the dealer's small museum of vintage Hondas. I bought this bike many years later from the dealer when the dealership closed, and at that time the original title was transferred to me. At that time the bike had only 2240 miles on it. After buying the bike I simply changed the oil, added gas, and it started on the second kick. I registered it in my name as an antique and began riding it. The original Ohtsu whitewall tires seemed fine at first but the rear tire began losing tread on a long ride last year. I replaced both tires with new black-walls and kept the front tire (it is shown in one photo). This front tire is included in the sale but must be picked up with the bike. While on another ride early this year the speedometer stopped working. At that time the odometer was at 2786 (see photo). I bought a NOS original speedo to replace the original. As of September 28 I've put another 130 miles on the bike, so the total mileage is currently 2916. I installed a new correct lead-acid battery earlier this year. The cosmetic condition is excellent though not perfect, as the photos show. The original paint is still generally rich and glossy though there are many small imperfections from age and use. The chrome is also excellent though not not perfect. The tank emblems (Honda 160 badges) are in excellent original condition - they are not reproductions. The engine still runs like new, and all lights, brakes, transmission, clutch and horn are in proper working condition. The seat is excellent with no tears. The tank has no dents and is very clean inside. I've gently cleaned and waxed parts of this bike but it could be brought even nearer to like-new condition with additional detailing. As it is it is a fully functional museum piece that turns heads whenever I take it out. The only thing that is not factory stock on this bike is the petcock. The original was very stiff and leaky, and I tried rebuilding it but wasn't satisfied with the results. I then installed a new aftermarket petcock which is flawless. This did not require any modification to the tank. I meant to keep the original petcock but I seem to have lost it. This auction includes the motorcycle and a duplicate key. No toolkit or manual is included. I'm a private enthusiast, not a dealer. I have a clear Pennsylvania title in my name. The vehicle is being sold as described and pictured but as-is, where-is with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. The bike is available for inspection by seriously interested bidders by appointment - please contact me through the eBay message system. The motorcycle must be picked up from my residential driveway in PA zip 19350 approximately 1 hour from Philadelphia, 2 hours from New York or Washington DC. I will not ship or crate this motorcycle. I prefer pickup by the buyer but will work with the buyer's bonded shipper to arrange a mutually convenient pickup. The bike must be picked up within 2 weeks of auction closing date unless prior agreement is arranged in writing. I'm also offering this bike for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time until reserve is met. Once reserve is met I will not end the auction. Please ask any questions before bidding. Please check my feedback and bid with confidence. Below are two videos of the bike. One very shaky one on a ride through Pennsylvania backroads taken with a small Sony camera hanging from my neck. The second shows near-instantaneous starting with the electric starter after installing a new lead-acid battery earlier this year.
