Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car from Classic Cars Ltd. in Pleasanton CA. www.classiccarsltd.com in October 2008 and the recorded mileage was 91,120. The car has been an investment and kept in a climate controlled garage since then in Central California, and driven 230 miles during this six year period until September 2014. In August 2013 I had it serviced throughout in Visalia CA at European Auto www.europeanautovisalia.com. Since then it has been moved to a private garage in Paso Robles CA, taken care of and started every 2 weeks by a family member. The car is in mint condition and probably one of the best Europa Specials on the West Coast. The interior and exterior is flawless. A few "spider cracks"/hairline cracks on the hood, and one on the side. All normal for a Lotus that is 40 years old. Car runs great, sounds great and will be an excellent investment -- better than money in the bank for sure. Here are photos of the car from "Lotus Europa Central" . It has not changed: http://lotus-europa2.com/picview.asp?page=4255r The winner of the bidding process must pay 10% down within 48 hours of winning, and the remainder within five working days. Buyer must arrange for transportation themselves - or drive it home. ---------------------------------- SPECIAL NOTE: Here is a description of my car, written in early 2008, from the owner who had it before I purchased it through Classic Cars. I do not vouch for the authenticity of this description, because I do not have the history of the car. However, what I can say is that from everything I know about this car, it all adds up. Enjoy the read. It had undergone a frame off $20k restoration in the early '90's that spared no expense. Last registered on the street in '95. It was then changed to a non-op registration and garaged until I purchased it. The previous owner was extremely meticulous about it. The car was a two year club concourse class winner. It is very, very clean and everywhere you look you can see things were done right. To revive it from its hibernation I changed all fluids. Replaced battery, electric fuel pump and electronic pointless ignition system. Here are some of the details of the car. · ENGINE. Starts right up and idles smoothly. Needs just a small amount of choke when cold. Runs very strong. Oil pressure is very good. Compression test was 150/150/155/150 psi. Zenith carbs were fitted with adjustable needles. Stainless steel 4/2/1 header is beautifully fitted and flow through muffler has a very deep tone. Runs cool and does not overheat or leak coolant. Petronix electronic ignition. Lucas 43D4 distributor. Lucas sports coil. Tilton Super Starter. Some minor oil seepage at the usual locations. · DRIVETRAIN. 5 speed shifts well in all gears. Linkage feels smooth without play. Clutch also very good. All u-joints, bearings, hubs, seals, axles were replaced or rebuilt. · INTERIOR. The nicest Europa interior I've ever seen. Seats, door panels and console were all redone in soft tan leather. Stitching and overall workmanship looks comparable to high end exotics such a Ferrari. New Banks dash pad. Oak dash. Momo steering wheel and leather shift knob. Simpson race harnesses on both seats. Seat tracks look new. All gauges and switches work.· Triplex Sundym tinted glass all excellent. Windshield looks new. · Headliner, visors and mirror excellent. · BODY. White with gold pin striping and trim. Paint condition and shine look very good with a few areas of spider cracks. One on the front hood 3-4 inches around that looks like a baseball or something similar dropped on it. One in the lower right rear about the same size, pretty much out of sight. The others are all small (one inch or less) typical Lotus cracks. All chrome, lenses, glass, rubber, mirrors are excellent. Headlamps are Hella brand Halogen with replaceable bulbs. · SUSPENSION / BRAKES. Front a-arms look new as do all trunnions, calipers, bushings, rotors, master cylinders. Spax adjustable shocks in front and rear. Adjustable lower links in rear. · FRAME. Straight and without damage. Looks to have been stripped and recoated. Front skid pan looks new. Rear swing arms recoated and bushing and bolts replaced. Some minor jack dents under arms. · WHEELS. 5 factory alloys were reconditioned to a quality better than new. Tires are Yokohama A008 205-60-13 rear and 185-60-13 front. · I will also include a set of four new Yokohama A008's that I have. · Overall just a beautiful and unique Europa that runs like a top. All modifications were tastefully and sensibly done. Last year made. More photos available on request. Also included are a tool kit, Lotus manual, fitted car cover and the four new Yokohamas. http://lotus-europa2.com/picview.asp?page=4255r
