Vehicle Detail

For Sale is a 1992 Volvo 240 in good shape. This vehicle has 237K miles, but it still runs very good and it has no major problems (engine or transmission) that I am aware of. If you are familiar with these cars, you know this is not unusual for these great little engines. To the best of my knowledge it has never been in a major accident. (The back passenger door was bumped and replaced in 2010, but there was no frame damage and the door was replaced entirely with an identical door that was original same silver color so no paint was required). I know you've heard it before, but my daughter really did get the oil changed about every 3000 miles. Of course, she got the car with 185K on it and has put on about 52K, so I can't vouch for the previous owners. Obviously, this is a 22 year old car, so it is not perfect, but it is not bad, either. There are no tears or burns in any of the seats. The vehicle has NOT been smoked in. The car has good tires with a good deal of tread remaining. You shouldn't have to buy tires for a couple years. There are a few rust spots and some paint discoloration and I have tried to show all of these in the photos. The front seats do show some normal discoloration and mild staining, but nothing drastic. The doors are all in good shape too. The windshield does have two spider web type cracks from rocks on the highway, one about the size of a quarter, and one about the size of an egg, but the good thing is they are down very low and not in the driver's view of the road when driving. She lived with it, but you might want to have it fixed. There may be a ball joint or tie-rod end needing replacement on the steering. My daughter said she didn't notice, but I noticed when I drove it. I think she just got slowly used to it. That said, I would not be afraid to drive it home for this or any other reason, even if it was a few hundred miles away. My daughter drove it to work daily until they bought their new car. There may be something else minor that I missed, but that is pretty much it. My daughter kept up on a lot of things as listed below:In 2010 she had these components replaced - the fuel pump, fuel filter, relay, and master cylinder In 2011, she had the window electric motor wiring repaired (window would get stuck)In 2012, she had these components replaced - air mass meter, timing belt (at 225K), power steering belt, rear mufflerIn 2014 we replaced the AC/heat fan blower motor with a new one. If you are not familiar with this, this is a very good thing to have had recently completed because it takes a lot of labor (or $) to replace it. You can read stories about it on the internet describing how incredibly hard this is to replace. Anyway, you shouldn't have to worry about this for many years to come and if you are looking at older Volvo 240's this is something you should consider. All in all, it a decent car, one you might get for a teenager's first car. That's what I did. They are built like a little tank, and the 240's were well known for their safety. Now she is married and they recently bought a new vehicle, so she is selling this, and as the dad, well, you can see I'm selling it for her. Best of luck bidding….There is no reserve, so if you have the winning bid…it's yours. By the way, I know most of you know this, but when you bid on eBay for a car, you are not bidding to come look at it, or to maybe decide later. You are committing to buy it, and you are expected to complete the transaction (unless for some reason the seller grossly misrepresented the vehicle). So please, only bid if you intend to complete the purchase. I am requiring a deposit within 48 hours of completing the auction.
