Vehicle Detail

CX500's are really popular to customize so last winter I decided to build one to see what it was all about. I restore English and Japenese bikes as a hobby. I have ridden it about 500 miles since completing it and it's really a fun ride. Not fast, not too slow and goes down the highway at 75 MPH all day long. I Googled CX500 and like the Rive Gauche Customs street trackers so that's the look I went for. With a simple change of tires, handlebars and seat you could make it a brat or cafe bike. Here is what I have done to it from the ground up. The wheels are straight, have new wheel bearings, and were powder coated semi gloss black. I'm running a new Conti TKC80 rear tire and a new Kendra Big Block front. They clear the frame and forks with no issues and handle on the street well. The front brake system is completed rebuilt with a new master cylinder, new steel line, rebuilt caliper and new pads. The rear brake has new shoes. The front forks have good chrome, new seals, new oil and new fork gators. The rear shocks were cleaned and painted, don't leak and work well. I trimmed the back of the frame and brazed in the resulting holes. The battery box was fabbed up to mount under the frame as you can see in one of the pictures. It has a new AGM battery. The engine was vapor blasted and repainted. Carbs were ultrasonically cleaned, rebuilt and rejetted for the open pipes and air filters. The bike runs great, no smoke or noises. The pipes are a mix of original head pipes welded to Murray's upswept middle pipes and Emgo reverse megs. The seat is a leather LePera. The fenders are stock CX Honda bobbed tight and powder coated to match the bike. The Gas tank has been chemically treated to clean up the inside and the outside is basecoat/clearcoat to match the rest of the bike. The gas cap has a new seal and the petcock was rebuild with new seals. The radiator was pressure tested, resoldered, cleaned and painted at a local radiator shop and I mounted a ZX6 fan to the back of it with a thermostatically controlled switch. New Honda radiator cap. The taillight is a repop Sparto, the headlight is a generic item. The handlebars are new. The speedometer is from a CB360 and works fine. The handlebar clamp with instrument lights are from a CB350 Honda and also are wired in and work fine. It is wired for turn signals but I do not have any mounted as I like the look without them. I have photos of the build and if you have questions just message me.I'll work with your shipper and getting a truck to my driveway is not an issue.Transferable registration in my name.If you are local you are welcome to come by and take a look.
