Vehicle Detail
Relisted due to non-payment. This numbers matching Bonneville has just been completely rebuilt by its second owner and has well documented history. It is a 2 owner bike. The first owner owned the bike for 15 years and rode it a total of 10,378 miles. The second owner owned it 19 years and rode it 4,340 miles. It was clearly well taken care of its entire life. There are extensive written records that come with this bike. The bike was winterized each year including an oil change and storage in a climate controlled garage. During 2010/2011 the bike was completely restored and has been ridden just over 200 miles since. The following list of work is transcribed from the bikes hand written log book - seen in a photograph included in this listing: At 14,446 miles the bike was completely disassembled. The engine and transmission were disassembled and vapor blasted and the top end was rebuilt including new valves, springs and guides, head shaved .005", new .020 oversized pistons at 8.5:1 compression and all bearings, bushings and seals were replaced. Steel inserts were installed in the spark plug holes. The transmission components were inspected and were found to be in perfect condition. An inline oil filter was installed. The carbs were rebuilt. The gas tank and side covers were sent out and professionally repainted to match the original black and gold scheme. New badges were installed. The frame, swing arm and triple trees were powder coated using the correct gloss black. Rechroming was done on both fenders, kick starter, gear lever, taillight mount, grab rail and many other small items. The seat is NOS - not a recover. The original decals under the seat are perfect without a scuff. A compete NOS 2:1 exhaust system was installed. Every possible rubber item that could age was replaced with NOS parts. All fasteners were replaced with stainless steel. Both brakes were completely rebuilt with new rotors, master cylinders, new hoses, new caliper seals and NOS brake pads. The electrics were redone with a NOS wiring harness and the handlebar switches were disassembled and lubed. New ignition switch and all other locks were rekeyed to match. New Boyer Branson ignition. The alternator stator was replaced with a high output item. The diode and rectifier was replaced. The coils and plug wires were replaced. All of the lenses were replaced with NOS Lucas items. Everything works as it should. The instruments are perfect. The primary chain, clutch friction plates, clutch chain wheel, chain tensioner and clutch rod were replaced with new. The fork tubes and seals are new. Small stone nicks were polished out of the lower fork legs. The rear suspension was disassembled, cleaned and lubed. The correct rear shocks with 100 LB. springs are new. The wheel bearings and tires were replaced with the correct Dunlop K81's. The original mag wheels are perfect with no clear coat breakdown. The chain and sprockets are new. In the spring of 2012 the engine was carefully heat cycled and broken in with 200 miles ridden. The oil was changed and everything was re-torqued and then valve lash was checked. At that point the owner fell ill and passed away. The bike went into my collection and lives in yet another climate controlled environment. I have a clear title in my name. Bike includes the log book, original tools, operators manual, parts and service manuals, magazine tests and the list by part number of everything replaced. It starts 1 kick cold or hot and idles perfectly. I have restored many English bikes and know what I would charge a customer to perform this work. My reserve is a fraction of what that bill would be.
