Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a rare, early 1964 Corvette Convertible with original drive train. Red with black interior. This car has the original 327/250HP engine with the coveted automatic Powerglide transmission and power steering. This rare combination makes it not only unique, but a fun every day cruiser. Aluminum corvette valve covers were recently added, but the original valve covers which came with the car are included and still in top condition. The car runs great and is in excellent mechanical condition. All numbers match and the car was never in any accidents. A total body on restoration was completed in the early 80’s and she has been garage kept by the same family for over 35 years. The car was repainted with the original Riverside Red lacquer paint in 1980 and it is still a great looking 10 foot paint job with a miles deep gloss until your right up on it. Some paint crazing has developed in the front headlight and rear deck areas (see photos), but overall it shines well. The car has the original black interior except for the front carpet which has been replaced. The radio and all gauges look great and function well except the ammeter (approx. $80 to repair). The black rag top is excellent condition. As with most C2 Corvettes, the odometer stopped working around 59,000 miles (It is normally an inexpensive nylon gear that fails). Throughout the 80’s, this corvette was driven to dozens of car shows and shown regularly. She consistently won 1st and 2nd place trophies, before she was retired and enjoyed as a regular cruiser. The attached photos show the attention to detail throughout the restoration as well as the love and care she has received over the past 35 years. The minor showing of age and imperfections are more than offset by the cars undeniable integrity. It has never been altered, hot-rodded, or crashed and pieced back to together. All numbers match throughout and the date codes are correct on all the subcomponents. With any classic car that’s actually driven, there will always be room for improvement, but the patina gives you permission to actually drive her and enjoy her instead of keeping her hidden away in a garage. And, if you’re looking for a car to restore back to peak NCRS condition, this is also the perfect foundation to easily get there. Please feel free to ask any questions, and happy bidding. Thanks. $1000 deposit required within 72 hours of auction end, balance due at pickup.
