1992 Ford Thunderbird Sport 5.0 HO, 51K miles, a real grandmother's car. She died and in-laws shipped car with 14K miles from Idaho to Michigan where my wife drove it commuting to work, mostly freeway, for 3 years. First, the bad stuff: developed slow coolant leak last winter, I suspected heater core, core finally let go this Spring, proving me right, puking coolant and car has sat undriven since. I already have 2 other projects taking up driveway space so this one must go. Car starts, runs, drives fine but, like I said, it's puking coolant behind the dash- heater core MUST be replaced. Car will drive away from my home if you know quick fix or easy way to bypass heater core, otherwise it will need to be towed/trailered. Car was backed into by some clown in a truck at a drive-thru 2 years ago, leaving dent in hood. Hood opens/closes fine. We had an alignment done right after the accident, along with new tires and brakes. Seems to be holding alignment fine, tire wear is good/even. Wife smokes, so expect smell, minor interior burns, etc. Car has power everything but mirrors and cassette player no longer work. Third brake light was removed. I disabled the neck-strangling power seatbelts shortly after getting the car. Belts still work fine, just won't choke you anymore. There is a slow oil leak coming from rear/under engine. If these Ford Windsors are anything like Chevy small-blocks, it's probably a rear main seal. It's pretty slow, I have to add maybe a quarter quart of oil towards the end of each change, so it's dripping about a quart per year, not bad. Wife sometimes took dogs for ride in car, so expect a loose hair or three hundred floating around the interior. Hood lifters are shot, as is common with these, so I include a handy prop rod with purchase. I am also including a factory repair manual for the car, the big book from Ford the dealerships use, so a do-it-yourself buyer can repair some of these things if desired. Random occassional check engine light since we got it, no idea, always ran fine. The good stuff: Somewhat rare Sport option/package. Very little rust for a Michigan car. As stated earlier, car was originally in Idaho, used by grandma and garaged for 14K miles/the first 20 years of its life (it was her "church car") until we got it shipped here. It's seen only 3 years of Michigan roads/winters, so it's pretty clean underneath. Minimal body/chassis rust. Good engine- this car has the 5.0 HO, the last year for forged pistons. The HO is also a roller cam motor, which is good. I replaced the drive belt last year. Regular oil/air filter changes. Starts, runs, drives good. Only 51K original miles. Interior is fairly clean, could use a good detailing. Glass is all good, no leaks/cracks/etc. Lights all work. Good brakes, tires. Power driver's seat, windows, locks all work fine. Trans in good shape, shifts fine. Clean trunk with spare and jack. All around nice car once the heater core is fixed, should provide plenty more miles/years of reliable transportation. Car has clear title, sold by private seller/owner. $100.00 deposit via PayPal required within 3 days of sale. Balance in cash due upon pickup.
