Vehicle Detail

Stunning 1968 Mustang GT Fastback! This car has an impeccable pedigree and restoration. All original sheetmetal on an original California car, plus numbers matching, and an incredible history, make this the car you want! I've been the proud steward of this car since 2003, and it's time to let someone else enjoy this wonderful piece of automotive history! This car has an impeccable pedigree and restoration. All original sheetmetal on an original California car, plus numbers matching, and an incredible history, make this the car you want! I've been the proud steward of this car since 2003, and it's time to let someone else enjoy this wonderful piece of automotive history! Condition: As I said above, all original sheetmetal, including underneath. And as you can see from the restoration pics, the body required nothing more than a nickel size repair in the lower corner of the drivers door. The car is as close to factory correct as any high end restoration. The underneath of the car is solid, floorboards, frame rails, etc. The underneath is not rotisserie restored, which means you can actually drive the car! I'm very picky (just ask my wife) which means this car is taken care of to the 9's! It is stored year round in a climate controlled building that is part of a Classic Car Museum, Snook's Dream Cars in Bowling Green,Ohio. The car does sit for weeks at a time, so there are some minor drips (transmission and power steering), but that goes with most cars of the age. Features: This car is loaded! According to the Marti Report, 17 factory options, including GT Equipment Group, the rare Convenience Control Panel, Fold-down rear seat, Selectaire - Air Conditioner, Interior DecorGroup, Upper and Lower console, Deluxe belts, and more. The car runs with the original 302-4V, and shifts through the original C-4 automatic transmission back to the 3.25 standard axle. It has a rebuilt Holley carb on it now, but I have the original Autolite 4V carb with the original metal tag (I'm beginning the process of getting it concours restored). The car idles, runs, and shifts like it should. All lights are in working order, headlights, foglights, turn signals, brake lights, interior lights, etc. One of the map lights in the upper console has quit working, and of course, the clock is not working (does this clock ever work!) The car is supposed to have an AM-8-track, but when I got the car it had a period correct AM-FM radio which I left in. The exhaust exits thru the factory exhaust manifolds into dual Flowmaster mufflers. Again, these were on the car when I purchased it, and have been left on. As you can see from the pictures, the paint is still breathtaking (having been painted in 2005). The trunk paint is totally original to the car, it was left alone during restoration. History: Yeah, this car has alot! It was originally leased by Quinn-Martin Productions for the personal use of Efrem Zimbalist Jr. At that time, he was the star of the TV show, "The FBI". Before he passed away, I was able to contact Mr. Zimbalist and he told me that he drove the vehicles that were leased for him very sparingly. He said that most of the time, his kids (Stephanie Zimbalist?) drove the cars. I have the letter which he sent to me. It will go with the car. The car has quite a history in itself too. After the lease was up, the car was sold to a Ford Engineer in Long Beach, California named Mitch Simmons. He drove it to West Virginia where it sat for sometimes more than a year, but it would always fire right up when he would come back East. It has gone from California, to West Virgina, to Florida, to Oklahoma, and now to Ohio. The car comes with alot of documentation, including Marti Report, reproduction Window Sticker, Original Owners Card, Original Temporary Owners Card, Original Owners Manual, Original 1968 Warranty Facts Booklet, and copies of previous titles and registrations, plus a ton of restoration receipts, full restoration photo album, and a copy of the feature on the car from the October 1984 issue of Mustang Monthly titled, "California Cooler." The car was also shown at the 2009 edition of "The Forge" musclecar show in Kingsport, Tennessee. This show was an invitation only show and featured about 100 of the best musclecars from across the country. I do have a clear title for the car, no worries there. Contact: If you have any questions, you can email me at: rocknroar@aol.com or call me (after 7pm Eastern Time) at 1-419-957-3224. My name is Jim. I have tried to be honest and open about the condition and pedigree of the car. This car has been my pride and joy for the 11 years I've owned it, and it has been extremely well taken care of. I don' think I've put more than 3,000 miles on this car in 11 years. Legal (payment, shipping, etc..): Buyer will be responsible for his own Licensing Requirements in State of residence. Buyer can inspect vehicle at storage premises BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please call or email me to schedule an appointment. Seller reserves the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. If the deposit is not received within 48 hours of the close of auction or if the balance is not paid in full within 5 days following the close of auction, I reserve the right to relist the vehicle or to sell it to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer. It is important to keep in mind this vehicle is pre-owned, and it is difficult to describe every small mark on it. These factors will not detract from the overall appearance and value of the vehicle. To the best of my knowledge, I have indicated any mechanical problems that are present in the description above. However, I am selling the vehicle "as is", without warranty. Ebay may offer some type of warranty, if so, that warranty is is seperate and independent. Buyer pays all shipping charges and makes final arrangements with shipping company. All bidders understand and agree to the following:1) I reserve the right to notify bidders and cancel this auction.2) I reserve the right to cancel bids from those with excessive negative feedback.3) I shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.4) The State of Ohio shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Notice to Bidders: 1) No bid retractions in the last 24 hours of auction please.
