1985 BMW Baur TC2 convertible with S50 M3 engine conversion The car is being listed on behalf of a private collector who is scaling down a collection of rare automobiles. The vehicle is located in Los Angeles California and carries a clean and clear California title. The vehicle was not first sold in the US being a personal import from Germany, hence ebay is not able to access the VIN vehicle history. An original European specification 318 convertible built by Baur Coachworks of Stuttgart for BMW in 1985. The car has been professionally converted to a full S50 M3 ( E36 ) drivetrain. Triple black with clean black bodywork and matching mohair top. The body work appears to have been repainted in the original color at some time; it is very presentable but does have minor flaws in the paint and body. The top is undamaged and shows very little wear, the rear window appears to be new. Exterior details such as the bumpers and trim are naturally European specification. A new set of aftermarket alloy wheels with new tires were recently fitted to further enhance the appearance. All glass and exterior trim are in good condition, there appear to be no items missing. The interior is very clean and is finished in factory sports trim. Power windows and door locks, There is an updated Kenwood stereo installed with a new headunit and speakers along with a comprehensive security system. Short throw shifter and M Sport steering wheel. The engine and transmission are the M3 S50 and 5 speed ZF. There is also an M3 spec exhaust system fitted. The suspension is uprated with Eibach springs and gas shocks. Overall the vehicle is cleaner than would be expected for a car of this age, the engine conversion is very well engineered and executed, it drives very well and as you might expect is extremely quick. Given the extremely low production numbers for the Baur TC and the engine conversion, this car is believed to be unique.
